30stone is a live performance duo comprised of Holly Eccleston and Frederick Brummer. We love bass. We play dubby, hip-hoppy, jazz/blues-y fatness on all live instruments. No computers in our live set.

 Sonarchy was formed in the fall of 2003 through a mutual interest in experimental and improvised music and sound. As all members enjoy participating in the interplay of the disparate elements in collage in a visual sense, it made sense to engage our collective expression through sound collage. By layering and juxtaposing pre-recorded material from external sources such as vernacular recordings and thrift store discards intended for a mass audience with lesser known experimental and ethnographic volumes enables Sonarchy  to create a dreamlike audio landscape through a kind of sonic alchemy. Theoretically, Sonarchy performances are rooted in the Surrealist concept and critical analysis of "miserabilism" (defined as the idea that misery is the only possible reality ) as well as with a Dadaist sense of the absurd. Sonarchy’s performances are done in a purely live context with no pre-mixing or studio sampling being utilized. All arranging is largely improvised with the emphasis on spontaneous and creative play. The use of pre-recorded material from cassette tapes, radio, vinyl records and CD's challenges the enclosure of free flowing information symbolized in corporate policies such as copyright and "intellectual property". Sonarchy performed at the  Vancouver New Music "Copyright/Copyleft" Festival in 2009.
