Hawa meaning wind in Arabic is experimental, improvised avant-folk music of the West Asian diaspora that we like to call ‘Levant-garde’. Music of resistance and liberation from the root of the land and the depths of the soul.

None of the tracks of our own that we put up here is copyrighted, because we want anyone who experiments and plays with sound to make use of the soundplay and noise experimentation created by the Intentional Multiple Personality Disorder non-group if they so desire - sample it, twist it, contort it, distort it, etc. And we have no desire to go through any institution (whether government, corporate or NGO) to declare this. As an additional note, a forced move earlier this year led to the loss of a few musical instruments. For now, IMPD and friends use found sounds, sound effects, samples, what some people would call "junk" (empty beer cans and  bottles, old cookie tins, etc.) and vocals to play with.

I am a self-taught improviser focusing on drum set and various North African & Middle Eastern hand percussion. I play in the trio "Air Above Mountains" with my partner Destanne Lundquist (moog synth, flute and various noise making implements) and Scott Bertram (guitar, effects).
 I am also very inspired by Korean traditional shamanic music, as well as the many schools of improvisation in both modern and traditional music.

Radio Chaotica is the unofficial "radio" of the imaginary realm Chaotica. For myself, I am the anarch of this realm. Should you choose to be a denizen of Chaotica, you would be your own anarch. I am a feral ranter with a sense of humor. The "broadcasts" on this radio will consist of rants and commentary, radio plays and stories, poems and humor, and perhaps snippets of music. On this site I am sharing my distortions of classical compositions - "de-classifying" them, so to speak. I consider this a kind of non-hostile desecration. (There is much classical music I enjoy, but I despise anything being placed on a pedestal and treated as sacred). Also, I don't copyright any of my soundplay, so feel free to play with it. I will be posting tracks of experiments I have done distorting vocal tracks and improvisations on various instruments in order to create eerie dark ambient sounds suitable perhaps for use in independent supernatural horror movies, radio shows or podcasts.  Sonarchy was formed in the fall of 2003 through a mutual interest in experimental and improvised music and sound. As all members enjoy participating in the interplay of the disparate elements in collage in a visual sense, it made sense to engage our collective expression through sound collage. By layering and juxtaposing pre-recorded material from external sources such as vernacular recordings and thrift store discards intended for a mass audience with lesser known experimental and ethnographic volumes enables Sonarchy  to create a dreamlike audio landscape through a kind of sonic alchemy. Theoretically, Sonarchy performances are rooted in the Surrealist concept and critical analysis of "miserabilism" (defined as the idea that misery is the only possible reality ) as well as with a Dadaist sense of the absurd. Sonarchy’s performances are done in a purely live context with no pre-mixing or studio sampling being utilized. All arranging is largely improvised with the emphasis on spontaneous and creative play. The use of pre-recorded material from cassette tapes, radio, vinyl records and CD's challenges the enclosure of free flowing information symbolized in corporate policies such as copyright and "intellectual property". Sonarchy performed at the  Vancouver New Music "Copyright/Copyleft" Festival in 2009.  

These are a series of demo songs... with the end goal of refining, writing, re-writing until it comes together.  First step is crafting rough demos with my limited skills, then finding a musician to collaborate sonically and musically with the end goal being .... unknown.  any musicians wanting to collaborate drop me a message.
