Gary Clarke joined a social media platform to raise awareness about an infrastructure issue in his local area by creating a website at Whaligoe Eye in August, 2021. During this time, he stumbled across a poetry and writing community which provided support and encouragement for his creativity.
Living right on the coastline in the Highlands of Scotland provides Gary with plenty of inspiration for his poetic endeavours, and through moments of sunrise and sunset gracing the North Sea it proves to be a motivational muse.

The Assignment: Record the second third of an asynchronous trio.

When I listened to https://soundcloud.com/bzurke/disquiet-junto-project-0592-better-than-one-noodle-twister-nobody-home-soundoferror-bass-vi based on https://soundcloud.com/noodletwister/nobody-home-disquiet0591 I instantly felt like when I was in Berlin at the Superbooth two days before, sitting in the sun, too lazy to visit all those synthesizers. All the time there were one, two or three acts playing something somewhere, which was sometimes a cacophony, sometimes it just fitted. So I added a rusty granular noise and fresh field recordings from Berlin, and really: This is how it sometimes could have sounded there, while you were sitting in the sun, too lazy to visit all those synthesizers. Maybe overstuffed, but I like this very much, of course especially because Soundoferror played so fine on Noodle Twisters great soundscape.

Disquiet Junto Project 0595: Filter Progression
The Assignment: Make music by processing a static sound.

I used a field recording of static rain in Munich from 2021 or so, on four tracks identically. All of them got filtered thru Cardinal VST, a very nice VCV Rack alternative, working as an effect, so that I could apply nested LFOs and parameter curves to the stereo filters (1x lowpass, 1x highpass, 2x bandpass) and it's resonances. The whole mix was filtered by apesoft apefilter for dramaturgy reasons.

There was a 1 hour version but I cut it down to 10 minutes because even I could not stand it that long, but with 10 minutes it's nice. Without the junto rule set I think I would have applied more elements.

Raining Lfos [disquiet0595]

My entry to Disquiet Junto Project 0595: Filter Progression.

I took this as an opportunity to use every Eurorack filter module I have.

The source is the sound of our back garden last Saturday evening, recorded in mono on my iPhone, which was wrapped in a microfibre cloth to reduce wind noise. It was left near the bird feeding table, as I was hoping the jays and crows and pigeons and magpies and sparrows and goldfinches would come along and make a racket. No such luck! :)

The source sound is being played by an Expert Sleepers disting mk4, using the I-1 Audio Playback algorithm. The audio is being sent to four places: two Ripples, which feed their respective outputs into the two filters on Blades, and two Shelves. The outputs of the two Blades filters are being sent directly to the left and right main outputs. The four bandpass filters from the two Shelves are being mixed into a left and right pair via the Veils, and then being sent to left and right main outputs.

A Stages is being used to modulate the filter frequencies of the other modules. All six Stages segments are set to "orange" / step mode, which output between zero and eight volts dependent on the position of the slider.

The first Stages segment modulates the frequency of the first Ripples and first Blades filter, the second segment modulates the second Ripples and second Blades filter, and the final four segments modulate the two pairs of parametric filters on the two Shelves.

I manually moved all six sliders around during the recording, and the output voltage was slewed a bit by Stages as well to make the frequency changes a bit smoother.

All filters were in bandpass mode, or as near as possible.
