Peculiar and fascinating journey… Great creation!

Hey Jo man, you and Jeff created something really magical here. Love the big horn themes and the ambiance around Jeff's mysterious vocals. Great work here, both of you!

Not sure if this was also on Jeff's page and maybe I heard it there, but sounds new to me and I just love it. The lyrics are a collaboration? Just fantastic poetry, so evocative and interesting

procedure: Jeff and jo co-composed the lines that eventually made it into the lyrics. Jeff then selected and condensed those lines into a single poem and recorded a spoken version. jo added some modulation and instrumentation, mostly urban field recordings and vst (organ, cello, choir) in quite a gritty mix. Jeff created a mellotron track as well as a remodulation of the reading and jo added some delayed quitar and incorporated all of that into the mix.  Eventually, Jeff performed an amazing e-bow solo which jo aðded into the brew - asking his software to also magic up some time reversal and stretching .... ah, the hermetic arts of the mixing desk! image: copyright jo richter

This threshold space exists for those who feel like listening to some of my quite professional poetry embedded in rather amateurishly recorded but judiciously arranged sound, a modicum of purely acoustic work notwithstanding. Tend your listening senses gently. Even though my general approach welcomes and embraces lo-fi concepts like the precision of spontaneously occuring imprecisions, headphones worth their membranes are recommended - unless you like your sounds flat, mangled, battered and helpless. You don't, do you? Be kind to these soundscapes.

STRUCTURING IMPULSE

Due to the nature of "poetry soundscapes", your listening expectations regarding traditionally structured "songs", sonically purified "raw wildlife soundscapes", keyboard-laden "ambient recordings" or voice-centered "readings" might not be met. You will find some of those in my list of /likes/. "Noise" is a recurring structural element like any other. This is what this sounds like - within its own rights, limitations, tangents and interconnections. Sonic structures. Silent stretches. Poetry emerges from the gaps between the ruts, seeps in from the undergrowth, sweeps down.
