Avantgarde Music Challenge (AMC) 001 - "Cymballistix"

Prompt:
"Make a song of at least 30 seconds' length using only cymbals. Any kind of cymbals will do - drum kit, orchestral, sampled cymbals, cymbal sounds from your synth, whatever you like!"

Execution:
I loaded up a bunch of drum kit and cymbal VSTis and then pitch-shifted, compressed, and equalized them until they started sounding like drums. I then added crotales and tingshas/zills (again pitch-shifted down an octave) to act as melodic components.
I think most styles of music could be effectively created with this technique, although the melodic sounds are somewhat lacking in sustain and in articulation variety. Maybe I'll figure those aspects out later.
