Contained in this release is some of the most honest electroacoustic music ever recorded. We do not accept the notion that needlessly-proprietary software, clownish MIDI-driven hardware controllers, and post-production belong anywhere within the realm of live electroacoustic music. More broadly, we disagree with the use of digital audio workstation (DAW) applications in the realm of performance, editing, or even mixing pieces of live electroacoustic music. No such practices were utilized in the making of this audio. This honesty forms the entire basis of the Sonic Multiplicities concept. To us, personal computers should - and can - be held to the same standard as acoustic instruments.

Both pieces were performed live in the living room of a private residence in Brooklyn, NY, and recorded with no overdubs, edits, additions, or subtractions after the fact. What you hear is precisely what the performer heard in their own headphone mix, and what the recording engineer heard during tracking.

On rainy summer nights, I seem destined to traverse the deepest caverns of my mind - particularly in the early morning hours. The thing I keep visually referencing in my mind is: gold trim.

The kind of trim that fits so elegantly upon the creaky walls, paneled with wondrous arts - its volume, though, a veil upon the specific beauty of each individual piece. The kind of trim that elegantly drips down from the corners where the ceilings meet the walls, and into the porous lavishness of wooden furniture hailing from 18th-century Europe.

Whenever the sensibilities of the people who owned such extravagances was put to the test, it is certain that these proto-revolutionary victims found themselves situated among the trim. And I just wonder whether any of them thanked their lucky stars, that their last glimpses of life would likely be the sight of this golden trim, all covered by the blood running down their eyes as they drift peaceably beyond consciousness and into deep, indefinite rest.

We represent the most extreme effort ever made towards empowering the solo instrumentalist with software. As an ensemble, we (▲) perform works of 'Sonic Multiplicities', a 21st century music philosophy and interactive musical software application developed by Andrew Grathwohl. This entails combining a solo instrumentalist with the SM performance software, and Grathwohl himself at the console, expanding the software's codebase in real-time through an act known as 'livecoding'. These performances represent Grathwohl's most current explorations within the Sonic Multiplicities medium.

We, who comprise ▲, believe that computers should be used to further the future exploration of the musical arts - not to streamline, evangelize, or mimic the musical past. When leveraged by the trained solo instrumentalist, the SM software hooks into the vast Sonic Multiplicities "cloud continuum", empowering the soloist to reach new heights of musical complexity, intensity, and control. It is an uncompromising platform that demands excellence from its performer, and is designed to explore the future of the Western cannon, not its distinct past.
