I am usually more of a jungle/hardcore man but have been listening to a lot of Denham Audio, Borai and Mani Festo this past few days, so this mix is perfectly timed! Thanks again for all your mixes dude!

Here's a mix of some modern breakbeat stuff that I've been feeling. Been picking up some records in this style over the last few years and decided to slap them together into a longish but very enjoyable set. Only did this in one take so there are a couple wonky moments, but that's life, you know. The tunes are fucking great, though! I've tried to mix up the textures and vibes through the mix, and I think it works out pretty nicely.

Stepping up for Tapes #44 is DJ, producer and label owner Coco Bryce. With well over two decades of experience, Coco Bryce can be regarded as a seasoned veteran in the world of uptempo dance music.  After getting his first pair of decks back in 1995 he soon found himself regularly spinning Gabber and UK Breakbeat records at Hardcore events near his homebase in the south of the Netherlands. By the late '90s Coco had taken to producing as well.

Ever prolific and never satisfied with sticking to any one formula, his discography contains over a hundred releases, spanning a wide variety of genres and labels, most notably Fresh 86, Lobster Theremin, Critical Music and of course his own imprints Myor, Myor Massiv, Diamond Life, Faces Of Bass and Ill Behaviour. A more recent development has seen him add yet another activity to his already busy schedule, hosting a monthly show on the radio station Balamii.

The next mix in our series is from mysterious producer Bit Folder who made his debut on Sheffield-based imprint Central Processing Unit earlier this month with the ’Silicon Frontier’ EP. There’a a divide in rumours about the producer, some say it’s a young new artist whilst others think it’s an old head producing under a different moniker. Either way, their first EP is a bold contemporary take on 90s techno and IDM, drawing from classic early Warp sounds, FireScope and Rephlex. And these sounds and influences can be found throughout Bit Folder’s mix, giving a bit of an insight into the mind of the anonymous producer.
