For a change we’ve invited a beautiful young lady over to do a Mixtape for us. Charlotte Thorstvedt, all the way from Norway. This talented young lady released her debut album ‘salome’ in 2012 on Universal Music Norway. Of her first single “Treacle”, critics said, “ it’s a deliciously laidback soft house affair. It’s lounge, but it’s by no means background music. Instead it’s got enough interesting layers, levels and depth to basically push that sofa within the aforementioned lounge towards the dance floor, and plonk it right in the middle of a particularly up-for-it bunch of Sunday afternoon clubbers

Since late 2005, the Detroit-born, Berlin-based producer has been intrinsically linked to the rise and rise of the label owing to key releases like his Eye Contact EP, genre defining 2008 full length, Blank Fade, and last year's huge EP, Unstable Witness.

Range Rover, the British luxury sport vehicle celebrated it's new Evoque model by creating a special contest for music producers to submit music with the chance of being featured in one of their TV advertisements, plus a release on Cologne's Treibstoff Recordings. Treibstoff founder Marcel Janovsky and friend and DJ partner Gabriel Ananda were invited by Range Rover to be guest jurors for the event. 

Michael Nielebock of Berlin was the chosen winner with his track titled "Pure Vision". It will be honored as the first release on Treibstoff's limited series, a platform for special and extraordinary releases. The A-side contains the original track written by Michael Nielebock with minor additions from Janovsky and Ananda, and the B-side includes a full remix by Ananda. The result was not only well suited for the commercial, but also a firm start to the Treibstoff limited series!

Perfect crystal clear vocals, a cool driving beat and a synth line that will catch you instantly.This tune is hypnotizing and irresistible. Still not unstoppable enough? Easy bro! This release also includes a massive remix by the unstoppable rave machines Tube & Berger and the smooth  groover "Make You Feel" on the flip. But now enough with the cheese! Time for unstoppability!

After a longer pause we welcome back Juli Holz with her rather nautical ‘Rundfunksender’ EP. Since her breakthrough with ‘Tränen auf dem Dancefloor’ and the Oliver Koletzki feature ‘Zuckerwatte’, Juli has been convincing listeners with an enchanting mix of poetic, often melancholic vocals and poppy melodies, without her losing sight of the dance floor. In a Juli Holz DJ Set one will encounter a broad range of styles, spanning from classic Chicago house to modern Bass – influences that Juli also incorporates here.  

On the opener ‘Boot in die Nacht’ crisp claps flirt with a laid back grumbling 303 bass-line, while a hypnotic synth-motif and maritime samples support Juli’s singing. ‘Rundfunksender’ plays with similar old-school sounds, but ups the tempo aided by impelling hi-hats – especially convincing are the vocal melodies, however, that operate within a classic song structure. Dirk Leyers and Mike Wolf present two ‘Rundfunksender’ remixes alongside the original, on which Leyers focuses on synths and Wolf preaches reduction. Lastly, the creaky bass-line of ‘Schiffbruch’ animates, once again accentuated by crystal-clear percussion, bouncy pads and Juli’s heart breaking voice, of course. 

‘Rundfunksender’ establishes just how much Juli has grown recently, both as a songwriter and as a producer. We say: Ahoy!

“I had this idea to make a video for ‘A Case For Shame’ which actually ended up informing the entire visual scheme of Innocents. In the video, someone dies – maybe they killed themselves out of a sense of shame – and they enter this other world, populated by these ghost creatures wearing masks. They look scary, but they’re actually covering their face because they’re ashamed. When you see someone wearing a scary mask, the first thought is, “What’s going on? That’s intimidating.” But they’re actually hiding – it’s the most blatant act of concealing oneself. ‘A Case For Shame” is one of two songs I collaborated on with Cold Specks. She’s quite shy, and preferred to be left alone in the studio, so I’d hit ‘record,’ go have some tea, then come back in and press ‘stop.’”
