Brooklyn’s favorite party rocker / prince of acid / crop-top enthusiast WTCHCRFT returns to Sorry Records with four brand new tracks jam-packed with speed groovin’ acid, uniquely functional rump shaker techno, 160 bpm breakbeat freak-outs, and powerhouse arena rave weaponry! The Ooga Booga EP [SR50] — our fiftieth catalog release and our last release of this long, hard, and wacky year.


Kind of got a bit of an American rave underground supergroup in the mix as well ! 😇 First off — our prolific and peerless friend Bored Lord is back for her fourth (!!) Sorry Records remix of 2021 following her insane contributions to our records from Tony G and PowerPlay (PlayPlay & C. Powers). She’s fresh off the release of her debut 12” The Last Illusion — the first signee to Octo Octa and Eris Drew’s T4T LUV NRG label. Her 100% originals set at Nowadays Nonstop this last July was one of the best dance floor experiences I’ve had all reopening. And of course we are so happy to have the great Nikki Nair on a Sorry project for the first time. The Atlanta-via-Tennessee producer and DJ has been a consistent benevolent force for the American underground for years and his raw power has been evident via records for Scuffed Recordings, Banoffee Pies, Lobster Theremin, Dirtybird, and TRAM Planet. Nikki’s the first out-of-town DJ we’ve ever been lucky enough to bring to NYC for a party, destroying Bossa Nova Civic Club last summer for our Bossa Radio collaboration with Worst Behavior. He’s a lovely person and we’re so glad to have his absolute kitchen sink 160 breaks rollercoaster “Nikki Nair’s Shook Mix” for this release.

WTCHCRFT - SHAKE IT (Nikki Nair's Shook Mix)

A lot has happened since Fixate released his last full length record, ‘What Goes Around’, on Exit Records in 2017. After putting out two Bandcamp EPs (‘Glare’ & ‘Confusion’) and several remixes—including his ‘Ripgroove Refix’, which famously went viral on Sherelle’s 2019 Boiler Room set and was eventually released as official remix on Ice Cream Records—he now presents his self-titled debut album ‘Fixate’.

Developed over five years, the project showcases Fixate’s sound palette in all its variety, a diversity of taste that’s reflected in his supporters: he’s garnered attention from icons like Andy C, Goldie, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, as well as underground tastemakers like Call Super, Toddla T, and Skee Mask. Ross From Friends closed off his 2020 Room Isolation set with Fixate’s breaky acid number ‘On Edge’; Sicaria Sound spun the dub-influenced album opener ‘Ruminate’ in their sets; and Madam X had sub-heavy track ‘Gristle’ doing the rounds.

Since 2011, Simon Hafner aka Sun People from Graz has been merging footwork, juke, jungle and UK hardcore influences to create his own distinctive sound. With releases on labels like Exit, Alphacut, Rua Sound and Through These Eyes, he has made a name for himself in the international 160 bpm scene over the years. In addition to remix jobs and his own productions, Simon also pursues his musically eclectic vision on a highly rated four-weekly radio show on London's Sub.FM.

On his EP The Walls, released in 2020 on Defrostatica, he devoted himself to early Chicago house music as well as European proto-hardcore of the 80s and the turbo sound championed by the likes of Fracture, Itoa and BSN Posse.

In 2022, Sun People presents a refined version of high-speed breakbeat minimalism, drawing further from bleep, dub and even industrial techno, but still with optimistic depth. From the cold bleep-influenced opener Into The New to the jungle-tekno track Overtoom and the tribalism of State of Flux, Sun People builds its own hypnotic approach to captivate dancers. Amaterasu marks the soulful coda and gives us the opportunity to take a breath.
