The Tamworth native and Soul Deep regular, Payback, comes through with another outstanding collection of tunes.  With consistent releases on Soul Deep and Smooth N Groove, Payback has created a buzz with his stellar grooves and technical production skills.  The ‘Interconnected EP’ kicks off with the title track, which features perfectly syncopated and snappy drums, gritty mid-bass textures, and a rolling baseline that will move the masses.  “Shine,” is up next and takes a slightly different approach.  The song is a bit more stripped back, featuring tough drums, a bouncy bassline, and a growling mid-bassline that adds the necessary bit of edge to the tune.  “Never Know,” is up next and features choppy breaks, a steady rolling bassline, lush pads, and a floating vocal sample that ties everything together.  The “Loose Cannon (Payback Rework)” rounds things out with its shuffling drums, a dirty bassline, and dubby effects that add to the texture of the song. The Bristol-based producer returns to Soul Deep with another classic collection of blissful liquid beats.  With previous releases on Intrigue, Lockdown, and Soul Flex, continues to compile an impressive back catalog of tracks that highlights his skills at creating lush dance floor grooves.  The Lost Control EP further proves that his production prowess is only getting stronger over time.  

The release kicks off with the title track, “Lost Control,” with features wavering synth pads, snappy drums, a filtered Reese-sounding baseline, and soulful vocals.  “Reach” is up next and features classic breaks, echoing vocals, deep sub-basslines, and epic pads.  “Too Close” takes over next and is driven by uplifting piano keys, steady drums, Rhodes keys, and a rolling bassline.  To round out the EP, “Without Love,” demonstrates a more stripped down sound with squelchy mid-bass tones, and “Ember River,” which brings a bit of a heavier dancefloor vibe.
