“Home” is the opening track of my forthcoming LP The Violence of Creation, a genre-spanning project that explores a wide spectrum of moods and emotions. It serves as a follow-up to last year’s Deostra EP, continuing the narrative introduced therein. The story follows Nylis, the son of Nox, God of Darkness, and Lys, Goddess of Light, as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, uncovering his powers and ascending to godhood, joining the pantheon established by his parents.

The artwork for The Violence of Creation visually interprets the Light Palace, situated within Lumira—the first known planet in the Deostran universe. This majestic abode is Lys’ home and where Nylis spent much of his childhood and adolescence. “Home” captures Nylis’ emotional ties to this place, reflecting the feelings and memories associated with his formative years in the Light Palace.

This song is part of a challenge I created for synthesis.audio.

The prompt of the challenge was to write an ambient song inspired by an early childhood memory in only 3 hours. Each sound of the song is made based off of a different element of the memory. This is an exercise in creating for the sake of creating.

My memory here is one of my mothers Tiger Lily's. Before she passed, our house always had the most beautiful flowers that I at times would help her plant. What really happened is that I'd run off and play while she worked. This memory is of me tired, laying in the grass trying to catch my breath, watching the clouds drift by on a sunny spring day. (the bird sounds are recordings from my childhood home that I recorded a a couple months ago) I always look at flowers differently now, but that only really makes them more beautiful every time I see them bloom. The next chance you get, look at the blooming flowers a little longer than you normally would for those who are no longer with us. Spend a little more time in the stillness and beauty of nature for those who no longer can.
