Here is a short Jazz piece i have composed for the NGADM´13 Tournament on Newgrounds - Round Three. I created it within 2 days. I wanted to create some kind of 1930 NY / Chicago gangster flair. Hope you guys will like it :D

this is my contribution for the great Super Smash Bros Fan-arranged album "Harmony of Heroes" from Shinesparkers. I did a jazz piano arrangement for the Legend of Zelda N64 theme "Hyrule Castle", original composition by Koji Kondo) in westcoast jazz style like oscar peterson used to compose in.

I am really proud i was part of this project since it was really a great experience and i met lots of interesting people there. Even the official Nintendo Magazine wrote some nice lines about the Album, which is totally awesome :) Enjoy!

Hey there,

a few months ago i took part in the Filmtonart Talent Award 2015 in munich during the Filmfestspiele Munich 2015. We had to score a sequence and had to deliver a track for a jazz quartett (piano, sax, drums and upright bass). My track was nominated for the top 3 and i won  software by avid and a magnum Moët Chandon. The contest was run by the Bayerischer Rundfunk, a public german broadcasting company. This beat tape from me Youtube searching myself "BKNAPP". I found that my last beat tape was featured on a well known trap Channel. My Beats were getting tens and thousands of views. I was pretty stoked at first because that brings traffic to my bandcamp and soundcloud. But the more I listened to those beats and went and looked what else was on that Trap Youtube channel I quickly realized how much of a fucking gimmick my beats have been lately. Quickly thrown together popular video game samples with Logic Pro's stock trap drum kit on top of it. 21 year old me would have fucking hated those beats. So uninspired. I grew up listening to complex beats and perfectly crafted beats from guys like Premier and dilla and here I was throwing together gimmick beats for a few extra plays. It was time to get back to training and learn how to do new things with my beats. 

So with this project I went back to challenging myself. I have layers of samples with nothing to do with each other. I had to figure out how to get them all to work together and make sense musically. My drums are in tune with the samples and I went back to my boom bap influences with them. 

This is my favorite project I have done. No gimmicks, no bullshit, just a bunch of floating ideas from my head put onto gritty drum beats. Hope the probable 10 people that read this like it. Putting this out on my 25th birthday too. That means I've been doing this for 5 years now. Besides teaching, it is my favorite thing to do. 

Also thanks to DJ Cutman for giving me some advice on mixing and mastering as that has always been something I struggle with. I'm improving for sure, but still have a ways to go.

The track was made with Logic Pro Studio 8 and took me 2 or 3 days because i newer did jazz-arrangements before. Hope you are comfortable with it!

some days ago i wanted to created some kind of homage for oscar peterson. After having finished the track my system crashed and almost the whole track has been destroyed. After that i had the idea to bring in some argentinean piazolla-style-bandoneon sound to create a french feeling. I have been inspired by woody allens movie "Midnight in Paris".
