Coming Up Short started with a lowly punk named JD who had all the fire in his belly to be a rock star, but all he could do on his own was play awful Oasis covers. To fulfill his vision, he enlisted the help of two mythical creatures: Ian, the most sexually active fairy in the valley, and Samm, a dragon with the head of a Puerto Rican and the body of a Puerto Rican. After a few hours of dicking around on their instruments, a wormhole opened up from Dimension 7 and spat out Crew, the most handsome musical genius to ever write this biography. The boys had chemistry, but they unfortunately did not have a bass player. Upon this realization, Ian started crying blood, Samm flew into a rage and choked a panda to death, JD blew up a Chevrolet dealership and Crew started throwing boulders in random directions. One of the boulders landed on a finance major named Steve, killing him instantly. After sweet-talking the devil, Steve was allowed to come back to life on the condition that he become a sex slave/bass player for the band for all of eternity.

Thanks to the horrible legal system of this corrupt capitalist society, these five complete fucking lunatics are somehow allowed to roam the streets, date our women and write music. The rickety hamster wheel that is Coming Up Short’s collective mind now offers your community the best of two musical genres: cliché anti-authority punk & novelty songs written by an autistic drug addict. By working together and loving the essence of music, Coming Up Short intends to tear down the patriarchy, fight the system and punch the world in the butt one cheek at a time.

Edgar Um Bucholtz is a DJ, multi-media artist, event producer and improvising musician living in Pittsburgh, PA.

He is the co-founder and co-resident (with DJ Dad Time!) of Pgh Bro Club, a monthly trash pop, anything goes, changing-theme dance party at the Brillobox in Pittsburgh.

Since its inception in 2010, he has served as a general advisor and music curator for the internationally-acclaimed annual VIA Music & New Media Festival in Pittsburgh.

He was a full-time music and event curator and resident DJ for The Andy Warhol Museum from 1999-2004. He has served as an events consultant for the last four Carnegie Internationals (1999-2000, 2004-2005, 2008, 2013-2014) at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.

He started collecting vinyl records and playing records at parties while in high school in rural southwestern Ohio. While an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, he was a DJ on WRCT FM (and for a few years after.) He credits WRCT's record library and many of his fellow WRCT DJ comrades with giving him as much or more important information as his professors at CMU. In addition to DJing at WRCT, he produced a long-running weekly live experimental improvised radio show called "Radio For The People" in collaboration with fellow CMU technology-focused art students as well as with bands and noise musicians from Pittsburgh. He also produced a weekly critical and cultural theory radio show called "Inside The Beast: Theory In Transmission" in collaboration with professor Camilla Griggers and graduate students in the CMU English Department.

Edgar Um Bucholtz makes sounds in Fuck Telecorps, a long-running electro-acoustic improvised experimental sound/performance project, and in an occasional power-electronics noise project called Cock Scene Investigator.
