For a good while, I did not think No Way Back would be a streaming event for the second year in a row, but as it became clear that was what was happening, I had to start thinking about this set. This was the opening set of the 36 hour stream, which gave me a lot of space to build things up incredibly slowly. There were a few things I knew I really wanted to include like the DJ Plead, Plastikman off "Consumed", the two Kocmoc tracks, and "Untitled #35" in tribute to Jasen Loveland. The rest was just connecting those dots to make it all work. I recorded this in one take by the stream outside my house in the Hudson Valley. I thought I would have shade for the whole 3 hours but found myself in direct sun halfway through as I started recording later than planned. The sun was sort of melting my brain and made the CDJ displays really hard to see but somehow I think it just added to the vibe. Deeply looking forward to finally reconnecting with everyone in 3D space at Tangent this Memorial Day weekend.

"Putting it together and recording it [this mix] was quite an interesting experience for me. It's the first time I've used four decks to record a guest mix. My aim was to delve into the concepts of unpredictability, uncertainty, and randomness, so I layered a myriad of sounds and loops to achieve that effect. 

Lately, I've been reading a lot about those notions and getting into the idea of letting go of control and embracing life's mysteries. Creating your own reality can be challenging, especially in a structured society (or the illusion of structure, you know how it goes). This mindset has been seeping into my music and sets, and I'm really digging the direction it's taking me."

"I'm happy to share with a larger audience this DJ set that I performed last May at the lost cabin of the self-managed micro festival #perpen24. The musical selection is all about soundtracks that intermingle to create a special score for the occasion. The idea of giving the audience a cinematic experience was well received by a fantastic audience, with a high (and gratifying) commitment, love, and respect towards music and its transmitters. This small perpendicular community let itself be enchanted by this blind film, and it was wonderful. This set was recorded live at Springkell in November of 2023 - a special gathering of artists, audiophiles and friends in a Scottish castle, with 3 non-stop days across 2 rooms, of ambient, techno and experimental music. For the past 3 years it has been a supreme annual highlight to attend as a guest, and last November I was honoured to be invited to play there for the first time.

The set was recorded early on the final evening of an icy cold weekend, so I looked to build the energy as we entered the final phase of the musical programme. A blend of new cuts and old classics.
