Deersky’s Soundteller Records opens the month of September by welcoming 2UP and Sergio Avila for a collaborative EP. Based in Chicago, Sergio made his Soundteller debut in 2020 with a contribution to the label’s popular ‘Vibrant Vibeland’ series. Meanwhile, 2UP who is based in Mexico makes his label debut. Together the duo have delivered a well received release for Dear Deer’s Black division and now they join forces once again on Soundteller with ‘Introspection’.

Known for their peak time sounds, the title selection continues the duo’s penchant for unabashedly epic music. Firing beats, machine gun style rhythms and a tight, rolling arp lay the foundation for a smashing dance floor slam. Vocal overlays add depth and character at timely moments as atmospheric phrasing, buzzing stabs and glassy clusters marry for magic moments leading into the break. Progressively more melodic across the centrepiece, the duo elevates mood with symphonic style motifs, before pulling back for a hypnotic drop and driving finale.

The companion piece ‘The Under’ lowers the tempo a touch but is equally powerful with it’s muscular groove and devilish electronics. Once again vocal elements add a complementary touch, playing off delicate arps and timely clap delays across the first act. The main break serves to elevate mood through further development of the vocal, before wisely pulling back for a thumping drop and key changing finish. It rounds out two monstrous tracks from 2UP and Sergio Avila, a duo who seem to have found a great creative synergy. Highly recommended.

Sonabit 'Photosynthesis' EP from March last year was a huge surprise success with the main track 'Sleeping Over Keyboards' staying in the Beatport top 100 tracks chart for almost 8 weeks. To kick off 2019 we, therefore, got some very talented artists on board to remix the EP. 

First up is Emi Galvan, who had a fantastic 2018 with some massive releases and support from the big progressive DJs, taking on 'Sleeping over Keyboards' turning it into a driving progressive house floor filler. New to Lowbit, FOTN delivers the second remix of 'Sleeping over Keyboards' going deeper focusing heavily on big melodies and atmosphere.

Another new name to Lowbit is In-DikA, a relatively new French producer who tackles 'Winter Disorder' creating a warm and laidback vibe focused around the main guitar melody. Wrapping things up is Bay Of Fires who turns 'Winter Disorder' into a smooth progressive house track.

Sonabit - Sleeping Over Keyboards (Emi Galvan Remix) [SU Master V1]

With Yolumuz, his second release on Lowbit Records, Tali Muss tastefully combines world instruments and ambitious sound design to create a unique musical mosaic.

On the title track, the musician stays faithful to his Azerbaijani roots, sitting at the crossroads of Western and Eastern influences. The DJ and producer, which has previously held the #1 spot on Beatport’s progressive house hype chart with his 2018 tune “Irreversible”, incorporates oriental drums to the track, which are complimented by the high-flown lead synth. This feeling of union amongst different origins is also accentuated by the interactions between the thick, omnipresent bassline and the joyful organic sounding flute.

On “Yalla” the artist, which has seen his work recognized by heavyweights such as Stan Kolev and Gareth Emery, crafts a hypnotizing melody which rides unto a rollercoaster of tension and release. The song is scattered with ascents and descents of different natures, most notably the long rise which sees the piece stripped and built back-up in a striking crescendo.

As for the remixes, Sonic Union and Hannes Wiehager team up to deliver their first common outing on Lowbit. The remix is a straightforward track with a constant high level of energy complemented by a weaving vocal sample and an evolving lead synth.

Finally, Highjacks, wrap up the release with a remix in tone with its musical identity. Coming off their successful “Venus” EP on Lowbit earlier this year, they construct aerial chords which caress the ears as the ravey bass supports the whole arrangement, proving once more that unlikely associations are a key to generate interesting emotions.
