Presenting their third release of the year, roku welcomes Blanka Barbara to the label for her debut EP. Born in Poland but now based in London, Blanka Barbara first emerged in 2020 with a series of releases via her Rabbit Records imprint. Quickly catching the attention of the progressive house and melodic techno communities, the next two years would see the
classically trained pianist and composer go on to record projects for Lane 8’s This Never Happened, Ziger’s Eat My Hat Music, John OO Fleming’s Joof Aura, Mango Alley and Proton’s Particles. With 2023 projects for Juicebox Music and Balkan Connection already in the books, Blanka now adds roku to her resume with ‘Ever Closer’, alongside remixes from Danny Lloyd and Bondarev.
Destined to be a highlight in Blanka’s discography, it is the melodic stylings of ‘Ever Closer’ which get the release underway. Electrically charged from the outset, its rolling rhythmic structures, striking percussion and character rich groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Dark bass stabs and haunting overlays cleverly coax across the first act,
elevating momentum and mood for a finale of colourful arps and hopeful sonics. The companion piece ‘Descending Into Heaven’ finds Blanka showcasing a deeper, more emotive side of her repertoire. The London resident masterfully marries blissful sonics and balmy effects over a framework of warm fluid grooves and precise percussive arrangements. Sitting at the heart of the piece is a reflective interlude, one where hopeful melodies unite in a whirlpool of textural euphoria, perfectly suited for those magical morning moments on the dancefloor.
Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Ever Closer’ is Danny Lloyd. With a career that spans the better part of two decades, Italian artist Danny Lloyd has etched his own unique place in progressive music history. Long a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, the Tuscany resident has taken his smooth effortless sound to long standing imprints Asymmetric Recordings, MNL, Movement, Proton Music and more. Known for being choosy in his projects, Danny’s first production of 2023 finds the Italian artist making his roku debut with a hypnotic rendition of ‘Ever Closer’. Opting for a timeless approach, the Italian artist creates a distinctive interpretation in his inimitable style; with arpeggiated fragments and airy sonics uniting over a bed of thumping beats and pulsing basslines, casting a spell over the listener across a fluid first movement, before breaking out into a tastefully restrained and deeply meditative finale.

PREMIERE: Blanka Barbara - Ever Closer (Danny Lloyd Remix) [ROKU]

Le Grand Labyrinthe was originally released as a single taken from Sezer Uysal's 2014 album '1 Body 2 Souls'. The original single got released last summer and still remains the top seller when you look at Sezer's Beatport top 10. Now we are happy to present you two fresh remixes by Boral Kibil and Unique Repeat!

Boral Kibil was born in Strasbourg, France but now resides in Turkey where he's the musical director and resident DJ of Cariye Club. He previously released on labels such as Stellar Fountain, Armada and Majestic Family and adds a dose of traditional middle eastern flavor to Sezer's original here with his remix.

Unique Repeat have become known players in the melodic techno scene lately with outstanding releases on labels such as Parquet, Inlab and Baroque to name a few. The Berlin duo bring their trademark rich pad sounds and harmonies combined with an inexhaustible stream of warm bass frequency to the table.

Sezer Uysal - Le Grand Labyrinthe (Unique Repeat Remix) [preview]

Incredible release it would be necessary to get ready to adventure yourselves into the shadows and not to think about what would you listen but just feeling it deep inside our souls. The mysterious Jake Chambers returns on MGF with a new project called „Won’t Change Myself/ Black Swan“ following the unbelievable remix he did for „Swimming With Birds“ on the latest Matthus Raman’s release and he didn’t failed the expectations we had for his debut EP on the label.

How would you describe a chameleon best? It might be difficult to say it with words as this creature constantly change his color to fit to the environment and the same happen when Jake’s attitude for morphing his sound bring an unexpected blaze of color into the darkness changing the scenario the listeners might got used to.

The dirty sound of „Won’t Change Myself“, which is a live take recorded in his studio, shows perfectly how Jake can bring together peace and tension with a mix of harmony and roughness in a special way that is impossible to reproduce and that is becoming his unique trademark while on his „Black Swan“ he creates the kind of song that takes is shape only at the right moment, minute after minute, as the tide grows hour after hour on a desolate shore somewhere near the sea just to fade away after reaching the highest point.
