Godriguez first stepped onto the international hip hop scene as the creative force behind Sampa The Great's breakthrough release "The Great Mixtape". His unique blend of jazz and avant-garde samples with a distinctly raw production aesthetic helped secure the mixtapes release through tastemaker label Wondercore Island which saw it receive high rotation from Triple J and recognition around the world including a premiere on OkayPlayer. 

In the year following it's release Godriguez continued to be a major force in the Sampa project, taking on the role of musical director pulling together a stellar line-up of musicians to reinterpret his beats in a live context. This live project performed at major Australian festivals such as Splendour In The Grass and Laneway and played supports for Kendrick Lamar and Fat Freddy's Drop among others.

Since then Godriguez has continued to grow in stature as a solo artist and producer working on original production for Wallace and remixes for Polographia and Winston Surfshirt and playing solo sets at Volumes Festival, Triple J's Mix Up and in support slots for Hiatus Kaiyote at Somerset House in London, Black Milk and Koi Child. His solo productions have also been featured on compilations by Wondercore Island and TAXX as well as received airplay from Triple J and support from major blogs Vice/Noisy, THUMP and Purple Sneakers.

Looking in the future it's the crossover between live music and production that's most exciting for Godriguez pushing the boundaries of improvised music within a framework of hip hop, jazz, soul and psychedelia. Working with the tastiest line-up of instrumentalists he's put together, keep an eye out for the exciting new direction in Godriguez' music.

嶋田会希–Elle Shimada is a violinist, producer, curator, DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Tokyo based in Melbourne.

A unique combination of thickly layered string lines making tender love to heavy new-jazz influenced beats creates an emotive, cinematic and other-worldly atmosphere while keeping the dance floor pulsing with visionary and edgy production. Shimada's genre defying sound draws inspiration from underground electronic music like Drum & Bass, Baile Funk with jazz classical music, combined with vulnerable and introspective lyricism often in subject matter that is both relatable and challenging, Shimada’s delivery is a strong testament to her unique ability in capturing human experience through music.

As a director of the multidisciplinary art collective CO-DREAMERS, Shimada fuses a choir section and choreography with a kinetic succession of dance beats and abstract compositions to create an unforgettable live performance experience with the feel of a movie. 

In 2022, Shimada released her debut album ‘HOME ≠ LOCATION’ on The Jazz Diaries, Shimada journeys through spiritual jazz and drum’n’bass in search of a home beyond the geographical touring in Australia, UK, EU, USA and Indonesia with tenacious reception globally.

In 2023, she is set to release two singles, About Blank____ ft. Rara Zulu and Mononoke ft. Yami, along with a self-directed music video showcasing her storytelling and curatorial skills beyond music. Together with the CO-DREAMERS collective, Shimada creates captivating performances with choir sections, choreography, and abstract compositions, touring Australia, UK, Asia and Europe, supporting renowned artists such as Madlib, Liv.e, Obongjayar, Alfa Mist and Jitwam.

With an undercurrent of feminism, cultural curiosity and a political mindset, Shimada utilizes the uniting power of music to cultivate a dance-floor-activism that is inclusive, honest and raw, creating progressive spaces beyond musicianship.
