San Francisco-based ezwhip remembers with vivid clarity the exact moment he first heard the opening notes of Erasure’s “Who Needs Love Like That?,” launching a now 30-year love affair with electronic music. His pioneering early 90s radio show Chillspace explored the nascent genre of ambient house, but it was turn-of-the-century Burning Man that dumped rocket fuel onto a burgeoning obsession with the broken beat (with all due props to the Space Cowboys for fanning the flames). He’s rocked parties all over the Bay Area and the playa, but his favorite venue is the Ecstatic Attic, where he hosts regular underground sessions for a “coalition of the chilling.” His tastes reflect a passion for a variety of styles and genres, weaving fresh sounds with properly-cellared bangers to inspire both old heads and new generations of bass-chasing, booty-shaking beat freaks. Long-time listener, first-time caller: this exclusive guest mix for the RIPEcast is all that, and more -- a veritable “Bass to Breakers” if you will. Watch your bassbins, I’m tellin’ ya.

8ball - Space Cowboys Livecast Mix - March 2020

We are starting a series of guest mixes spotlighting various artists outside of the Bay Area and kicking it off with a guest mix from Tampa Bay's InterCom (@intercom-dj).

Intercom has pulverized dancefloors from coast to coast with his unique brand of impious vibrations since 1999. Stupefying crowds from Black Rock City to Lakes of Fire, Intercom’s influence on the Burning Man music community has stretched from memorable performances at the Freakeasy and Hookahdome to those at Dewie Decibels and Gon Kirin. In Detroit, Intercom spent years leaving audiences in a pile of their own excrement during monthlies for SanctumFM. Also pairing his caliginous vibe quite appropriately with the devils and ghouls at Theatre Bizarre, where he has performed since prior to the inception of their mainstream epoch. 

Intercom has opened for and supported such belligerence powerhouses as Deekline, Keith Mackenzie, Stanton Warriors, Freq Nasty and Radiohiro.

Influence - Live @ Unison 4 _ 2020

The Unison parties have been one of the rare silver linings to the decade length year known as 2020. Last August, for Unison 4, I streamed an hour of spacey, ravey, acidy beats, but then kept the mix going for another hour or so because I had a bunch more new music I wanted to hear. 

As a side note, I'm a little late getting this posted. My general goal is to post a mix each month, so this is the mix for August. September's mix from one of my happy hours will be up soon, too!
