As transmissões sonoras do nosso próximo episódio vem diretamente do coração dos Balcãs: Nevena, nascida e criada em Belgrado, Sérvia, deu espaço a sua curiosidade e interesse na música, pouco a pouco se envolvendo em sons atmosféricos, orgânicos e emocionais. 

Tanto é assim que este Altercast começa com um verdadeiro feitiço do Gabão dos anos 80, N’Kene, de François N’Gwa. Passeando pelo roots-spiritual africano, zouk e disco workouts instrumentais, o mix é uma viagem por música sensível, feita para tocar e emocionar.

Belgrade born and based, Nevena started her career out of curiosity and interest in music. Open - mindedness is a trait she uses in every aspect of her life and implements it in music as well. 

From soul, boogie to disco and house and everything in between, she combines it into one whole depending on the ambient, atmosphere and people. The biggest influence on her are the artists who tend to experiment and who don’t settle for compromises. Music which has organic sound and which provokes different emotions and feelings is something that she explores continuously. 

Departing with the spellbinding gabonese 80's gem N'Kene, the mix traverses through spiritual-roots african music, reggae, instrumental disco workouts, and more, all with a delicate and emotive mood.

Known for his trusted label Die Orakel, programming the dancefloor at Offenbach institution Robert Johnson and heading up EOS radio, Oliver Hafenbauer is no stranger to the game. 

For the latest instalment of Off-Kilter, he presents us with an uncompromising mix that spans a multitude of genres; dance music influenced but sitting on the fringes, woven intricately together - dark and suspenseful yet light and hypnotic. Downtempo, house, techno, cosmic and unruly, spiralling sounds and cycles of rhythm overlapping and phasing in time.

Oliver Hafenbauer is an experienced and versatile DJ with a long-standing history of being one of the key figures in the local club scene and beyond. 

Stylistically motivated to what is beat-driven and highly danceable, he has the perfect sensitivity for the contexts he is involved with. Oliver set his priorities differently a while ago when he hung up a potential career in architecture and decided to go for the music after having DJed for years and promoted his party series. Oliver’s steady commitment to Offenbach’s vastly respected venue has brought him wide recognition: For over a decade, he functioned as music director of Robert Johnson and managed the associated label of the same name. Working behind the scenes allows not only different perspectives but enables many alliances. Rather than producing as a strategy, he consequently fosters talent on his imprint Die Orakel, where he releases music positively undetermined between dance and ambient by artists like upsammy, Reptant, or Roman Flügel. 

Oliver has been co-founder of the Frankfurt-based online radio station EOS Radio since 2021. Last but not least, his approach to playing music as a conceptual act within diverse networks of artists and audiences is what makes of him an allrounder of many qualities.

marco from MLiR recently paid us a visit in naarm, the land of oz ~ while he was here, he realised that one of his gigs was vinyl-only, and he was traveling light with only usbs ~ he asked his good friend jamie (me) if he could raid the sounds good records cache as well as my record bag, to see if he could find some worthy dance-music records to bring to his set from midnight - 3am

here is the end result! a very creative mix using only 12" vinyl records from jamie the scorpio's collection & sounds good records shop stock

In a highly saturated market there is a lot to be said for record labels who trawl the earth to revitalize music which was perhaps thought lost to the depths of Discogs and glory seekers the world over. Isle Of Jura issued a statement of intent when they announced their debut release in the early months of last year. Their first release came in the form of a reissue of a highly sought after disco record from the 1980's, Escape From New York's "Fire In My Heart". An out of reach record was made attainable once again and the demand rocketed.

The label then went on to re-release a balearic masterclass in the form of Chayell's "It's Never Too Hot". 

What lies ahead for the label in 2017 is a mystery, but expect the unexpected. We spoke to the label founder Kevin Griffiths as he delivers a flavour of the label.
