After our party in La Rotonde last week with the guys from Clandestino, we joined them in Leeds a couple of days ago for another memorable party. A perfect occasion to premiere a track off the next Joe Morris EP entitled "The Voyage", coming out on local label Balearic Social, which already gave us the Zmatsutsi EP earlier this year. The opening track "Bahia" is a finely produced slow-paced number that combinates playful chimes, Ibiza piano parts and ethereal vocal pads. The perfect balearic soundtrack for an Indian summer.

My Friend Dario and Hell Yeah label boss Marco Gallerani continue to develop their renewed friendship with another magical coming together. Many years after they used to make music together, they are now older, wiser, and frankly, better at what they do. And so it is here with Dario continuing to explore his unique electronics, all inspired by the Sicilian breeze. 
Dario is very involved with Catania's underground music scene: he has soaked it up and helped to shape it for many years and always with a warm Mediterranean current gently flowing through his work. His last EP, Calamari Fritti in late 2018, was a real gem, and this new one follows up in style. 
Opener “Prime Luci” is for early evening drinks on a coastal terrace as the water glistens and sun turns red, while “Domenica” is for early evening swaying, with deep disco drums and Casio chords enriching your soul. “Danoy” is a cosmic trip with melodic droplets and shimmering lead synths that melts you over and over again, and “Nonna” is an ambient excursion with a suggestion of menace in the creeping bass synths that keep you on edge. Closer "Monti Rossi Sunday Vibes" ends with slow and lumpy drums awash with wispy pads and cosmic suggestions. 
You might not have been to Sicily before, but after listening to this EP you sure will feel like you have.

DC Promo Tracks #589: Ftzzgrld "Nice And Slow"

Legendary Adriatic DJ and producer Verdo doesn't release often, but when he does you need to listen. He always has one foot on the dancefloor, while the other makes a leap into outer space.

Resident at the infamous Gratis Club in Senigallia, a skilled musician who brings virtuoso playing and someone with his own immediately identifiable sound, Verdo is a real hidden treasure. The Italian has
previously released on Danny Was A Drag King and also this label back in 2017, and mixes up anything from afro to acid, disco to downtempo in his grooves.

'Symmetry' kicks off in strident fashion, with throwback piano chords lighting up the airwaves as stomping drums make you move. It's the sound of an all out celebration of the sort we have all been missing recently. 
'Babbions' strikes a more tender note, with warm chords rising up through the cosmic arps and long legged drums. It's a twinkling track that glows bright and lifts your spirits no end.
'Procida' layers up more retro-future chords with bubbling melodies and star-gazing pads that will soundtrack sunsets by the sea in perfect fashion. 
"Second Trip' is a thoughtful track that sinks you into warm grooves, with shimmering keys that bring the romance. This one also comes as a bonus beatless version for lush ambient escapism and sentimental moments.
