House of Spirits is the church of sound over which Tom Noble presides, raising the congregation to ecstatic heights from his pulpit of passion.

Noble’s initial attempts at making music began like most collectors-cum-producers, lifting samples from worn records and repurposing the dusty beats into efficient edits. Instead of lumbering in these limitations, Noble opted for a greater challenge by inviting musicians to transform his sketches into a widely – and wildly – dynamic live performance. The resulting studio celebration led to the euphoric Holding On / Keep Holding On 12” for Beats In Space Records.

“Holding On” glides on such a joyous, eventful groove that it’s impossible to confine the track to a specific time or place. Strings, seemingly lifted from a 70s Salsoul twelve, soar alongside a gospel choir preaching positivity for souls both lost and found. Buoyed by a bass lick fat with funk’s sin and guitars glittering in solid gold, “Holding On” embraces disco house authentically and timelessly.

On the flip, Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights tucks the heavenly wonder of the original under a dub-worn blanket for an out-of-body dream beam. The power of Noble’s composition retains full form against the free-flowing disembodiment of the performers, melting into one amorphous, hustling and bustling entity held together at the whim of Coyes at the controls.

Each 12″ from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. Tom Noble adorns Holding On with the fluorescent sigil of a late night romance. The 12″ packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling.

House of Spirits’ Holding On / Keep Holding On (Peaking Lights Dub) 12” will be released on May 20, 2014 on Beats In Space as a limited edition 12” and digitally.

Hot off the record press, just in time to ring in the famous mobilee rooftop and pool season, Rodriguez Jr.cranks out a stellar four-track EP.

Revolving around the beauty of the 133 is, "Persistence Of Vision", a groovy and melodic little number wrapped in deep, soulful lyrics, customized to flow through the warm evening open air dance floors of Spain this summer. The Re.You remix of this utopian track speeds up the melodies just enough not to take away from the wonderfulness of it all. With some extra kinky sound gadgets sporadically added in, this jam can be worked in into any dancefloor set.

On the flip side, "Mustang" tears it up with jumping keystrokes and faint background vocals while "Alderbaran" counteracts with cheerful xylophone taps battling with sinister vocal samples, harvesting an uplifting tune.

Past rooftop parties have validated Rodriguez Jr. to be an integral part of the summer line-up and what better to launch 2014 than with a potential "summer hit". Mobilee will introduce its first ever free, bi-weekly Ibiza residency starting Monday, July 14th on the poolside dance floor of Hotel Santos Ibiza Coast Suites and Rodriguez Jr. is scheduled to deliver a sensational and intimate live set. Additionally, in a series of four events, Hotel Silken Diagonal's infamous cozy Barcelona rooftop, in conjunction with mobilee records, will host Rodriguez Jr. to close out the season along with Sebo K and Re.You on Thursday, September 9th.

After our party in La Rotonde last week with the guys from Clandestino, we joined them in Leeds a couple of days ago for another memorable party. A perfect occasion to premiere a track off the next Joe Morris EP entitled "The Voyage", coming out on local label Balearic Social, which already gave us the Zmatsutsi EP earlier this year. The opening track "Bahia" is a finely produced slow-paced number that combinates playful chimes, Ibiza piano parts and ethereal vocal pads. The perfect balearic soundtrack for an Indian summer.

DC Promo Tracks #552: City Strike "Santa Monica"

Legendary Adriatic DJ and producer Verdo doesn't release often, but when he does you need to listen. He always has one foot on the dancefloor, while the other makes a leap into outer space.

Resident at the infamous Gratis Club in Senigallia, a skilled musician who brings virtuoso playing and someone with his own immediately identifiable sound, Verdo is a real hidden treasure. The Italian has
previously released on Danny Was A Drag King and also this label back in 2017, and mixes up anything from afro to acid, disco to downtempo in his grooves.

'Symmetry' kicks off in strident fashion, with throwback piano chords lighting up the airwaves as stomping drums make you move. It's the sound of an all out celebration of the sort we have all been missing recently. 
'Babbions' strikes a more tender note, with warm chords rising up through the cosmic arps and long legged drums. It's a twinkling track that glows bright and lifts your spirits no end.
'Procida' layers up more retro-future chords with bubbling melodies and star-gazing pads that will soundtrack sunsets by the sea in perfect fashion. 
"Second Trip' is a thoughtful track that sinks you into warm grooves, with shimmering keys that bring the romance. This one also comes as a bonus beatless version for lush ambient escapism and sentimental moments.
