Rob Simmonds (Bitter Loss Records) Interview

Between 1999 – 2003 in Adelaide, Australia, the demon of ONI was given life in the form of a four-piece dark and brutal death metal band. ONI’s foundations in hell were laid by members of past and present luminaries such as Tzun Tzu, Beyond Mortal Dreams, Martire, Darklord, Oath of Damnation, Deluge & more.

ONI combined oriental influences with dark, brooding and highly proficient death metal ferocity. By the cessation of ONI’s life, they had produced 8 tracks over three assorted releases and contributed to several compilations including ‘Hell at Last – A Tribute to Slayer’ amongst others.

Aptly titled Incantation Superstition, Sphere of Apparition is proud to reissue a compendium of ONI’s discography on 12” Vinyl & CD (CD co-released with Dissident Records) totaling over 32 minutes, with their complete catalogue documented plus a Slayer cover - Altar of Sacrifice.

Sometime around 1993, in the halls of Cromer High-school on Sydney’s Northern beaches, Neuropath was conceived. Between 1995 and 1996 Neuropath documented two demo cassettes; firstly, “Nefarious Vivisection” followed by “Desert of Excruciation”. “Nefarious Vivisection” acted as a purging of their earlier material but epitomized the uncompromisingly raw and brutal edge of mid 90’s Death Metal. “Desert of Excruciation” originally released by Australia's Warhead Records saw Neuropath traversing towards a tighter and more technical style of Death Metal. Remarkably both demos where released unmastered.

“At Damnation’s Core” compiles both demos together, mastered for the first time by Dredged Oblivion.

The “At Damnation’s Core” CD package will include an 8-page booklet comprising band photos, lyrics and detailed linear notes of Neuropath’s history authored by guitarist and founding member Daniel Stubbs.

Catacomb, who formed in Brisbane around 2000, played a unique style of fast but evocative Black Metal drawing influences from Emperor, Satyricon and Enslaved; and to a lesser extent Dissection & Kvist.
“Following the Call” is a collection of Catacomb’s output, it features both demos (never officially released) and two live tracks recorded in Brisbane, 2003.
