Playing with the idea of an unsolved murder case, in Assassinato Samito engineers a minimalist poem to put forth a social commentary. Relying heavily on epistrophe and repetition to emphasize the feeling of urgency ever-present in the synth’s ostinato, there's a kind of transcendent alchemy between the vocals and the music, translated into a thick, organic Amapiano inspired track, with just enough tension to keep the listener hooked.

The Lotus Queen first became inspired to DJ after listening to the legendary Friday Night shows on CJSW such as The Musiquarium, The Red Eye and Radiant ST8. Sensitive to music from an early age, after attending her first rave in 1996 she felt the unique energy that flowed between DJ and dancers. Although she enjoyed Trip Hop, house, hip hop, industrial, drum n bass became the best fit.
Lotus played her first gig in 1998 in the basement of what was then called Java Sharks (now Sal's on 17th) and was one of the first female drum n bass DJs in Calgary. Since then she has shared the bill with some great talent such as: DJ Rap, Tommy Illfingas, Ill-esha, DJ Tron and Blu Mar Ten and over a decade's worth of talented fellow Calgary DJs.
Her sets feature many styles of drum n bass especially sexy, soulful and energetic liquid. Ragga and some jump up make an appearance as well as non-shitty dubstep.
Lotus Queen rinses proper every friday night, on Remote Emissions, Calgary's longest running drum n' bass radio show (est. 1997). Rowdy dj mix sessions w/special guests, to introspective unplanned journeys, your soundtrack to your Friday night is taken care of:

This bad gyal has been a long-time staple in Vancouver's underground bass scene for almost two decades. She started out by spending countless hours digging elbow-deep in crates of 45s in Canada, the US and Jamaica. Her finely curated sets landed her behind the decks continuously and firmly solidified her as a member of Vancouver's notorious LIGHTA! crew. She is well-known for her legendary mixes, some being all-vinyl releases, her true love. Blending reggae/dancehall with dembow/bass/rap/RnB/grime, her musical repertoire is expansive and fresh. A regular at Bass Coast, she also graced stages at Shambhala, Diversity and her family-run festival The Field. She rocked the Thunder Stage at LIB and made ripples at the Moon Stage at the Oregon Eclipse. She has opened for well-known artists in both the reggae/dancehall and international underground music scenes and graces underground parties spanning the west coast and other major musical hubs. In 2012 she gave birth to Lighta's youngest little member. bup!bup!
