Pacific Drive Custom Radio Playlist

The mysterious 'Cup and Rings' rock art created over 3,000 years ago in Europe have fascinated archeologists over many years. In 1981 an unusual specimen was uncovered in an urban woodland in the Yorkshire city of Sheffield which I make a point of visiting regularly. This neolithic masterpiece lies tucked away in Ecclesall Woods and is characterised by a variant of the usual concentric circles design, which gives a unique outline to its carving. This funkier version of Stone Age expression deserves a celebration in music which is attempted here....

This is a new song about love and support in very difficult, emotional times.

But dark green walls and patterned bathroom tiles, and a fire that offsets the winter gloom,
and a bed with soft pillows,  a huge warming quilt, with coffees and biscuits and tea,
all provide refuge, an oasis of calm, against the storms that life has sent with ferocity….

But flashbacks of the bedside, final sad hours, medicines and medics and sleep deprivation,

In an old English town, deep inside Sussex, with oak doors and old pubs and grey chimney smoke
surrounded by fields and full bloated river where we walked for miles, held hands and got soaked
then back to the hotel for swimming and resting, tv, hot baths and loving,
reading books, watching people, we stretched out and enjoyed the freedom of just doing nothing

A mid-tempo indie rock journey through the hazy landscape of the past. This is a song about how we revisit old moments, and how they shift and change with every telling as they travel through the dust of time. The lyrics explore how nostalgia can be both comforting and deceptive, but ultimately they are about accepting the binding aspects of the past and letting go, whilst embracing the beauty of the human experience and finding solace in the present.
