There's a fox on a hill.
Looking down at a hen house.
The hills roll away.
What more can you say?

There's a spider that spends, its whole life on a window. 
He doesn't get down.
Nor ever look around. 
He just likes to stay.

There's a a boy.
Aged about ten.
Naming flags to his mother.
She just can't work up. 
The will to look up from her ironing pile. 

There's a box on a fridge.
Which no one will look in.
Ever again.
Contains anything, 
Which boxes contain.

There's a girl plucking eyebrows.
For forty five minutes.
She watches them fall.
For a moment they stall.
Then they're gone away.

There's a sign on the wall.
Which must signify something.
You don't don't take it in.
The words don't begin.
The words are opaque.

There are things in this world that are best off forgotten. 
There are things that you take to the grave.
 
There's a question which fills you with furious anger. 
Mis-understood all.
You made the wrong call.
What more can I say?

There's a sword in the sky hanging over our shoulders. 
We wait for the fall.
Whilst trying to walk tall.
What more can I say?

There's a love that's uncertain.
That is worth the time put in. 
It waits to begin.
A strike for the win. 
You'll get there one day.

Meet Me In The Middle

A commodity you sold.
For an act that's gotten old.
A mask that lays discarded in the dark.
A point made that clean missed the mark.
A fragment of a word,
or a story you misheard.
Filled your pockets to the trim with all their mould.
Ignoring the rich fields of gold.

I know my faults.
I know that you don't listen in.
I took too long to begin.
Written off.

A momentary lapse,
To behaviours of the past.
Pay the ferryman with coins that you had stole.
A pointless collector of souls.
A phoney masquerade,
A throw off to the shade.
Your tactics are excused now, on the whole.
Felt rung out and wrought by the goal.

I know that you're not really there.
It's just a jolt.
I know that rivalry's a thing.
A simple tune to sing.
From the vault.

I know there's wastelands and a king.
I know the job.
I know there's Snakes and everything.
I caught a glimpse.
Only a glance.

The ringing of the bell.
Won't shake you from the spell.
A payment you have pending from the dole.
A vessel to fill up with coal. 
An unheeded warning.
Before the anger has set in.
The centre that is struggling to hold. 
A vector for lies that are old.

I know that charm can often hide.
A selfish grin.
We've all been taken for a ride.
To hell we go.

We made a start.
Usual ride.
A dagger in the side.

More Snakes

A Miller has no dreams.
He can not hope to see every horse in every stream.
There's no need to spur.
A horse that's travelling, already up to speed.

Look to the stars.
Stare up all you like, but you'll never get that far.

You'll never understand. you're never gonna fly.

The kids dont think in dreams.
Taken, locked away, a never-ending scream.
A future made obscene.
Squandered on a stupid capitalist scheme.

The kids don't think at all.
Waiting for the day they're lined against a wall.
A conflict of the mind.
The world of black and white, pointed, erudite.

Look to the stars.
Shine on alkaline, you're just fine as you are.

While the miller told his tale.
The sword of damocles, descending, deft, unfurled.
The trampling of the damned.
