The Gemstone #07 | LENI

On this glorious morning in March, Hekske (the little witch) woke up at the first sunlight. Falke (the 10-year old witch apprentice) was already awake and preparing their morning tea with the help of a family of squirrels. It was only a couple of days before the Spring equinox and finches and dunnocks were singing everywhere in the forest. Spring was in the air. 
After drinking a cup of herbal tea, the girls felt the urge to go and see the weeping willow which is standing in the middle of the central clearing of the forest. Soon, Hekske and Falke were standing at the foot of the giant tree, looking up in awe at its majestic dome-shaped canopy. This willow is by far the oldest tree in the forest and is believed to have been planted by Roxelana, the very first witch to live in these woods, which was over a thousand years ago. Hekske and Falke spontaneously gave a gentle hug to the age-old stem of the tree, and a feeling of sadness descended upon them. They were thinking back at all the animals who had died during the drought of last summer, and to all the trees which had been uprooted by the autumn storms. Both girls wept with thick tears rolling over their cheeks. After a while the Spring sun shone on the willow tree, and the witches looked at all the activity around them. A few meters away a hedgehog had just woken up from his winter sleep and popped up from underneath a pile of leaves. The young girls looked with tenderness while the drowsy animal was stretching his legs for the first time of the year. Falke casually touched one of the hanging branches of the willow tree, and to her amazement fresh green leaves unfolded in a matter of seconds. Then also Hekske touched another twig, which also magically turned green. The girls touched all the hanging twigs one by one, turning the whole tree in a fresh green color. When they looked around, they saw birds making nests everywhere. Their witch’s hearts filled with joy when looking at this hive of activity. Then something strange happened. A twig fell down just in front the girls’ feet. The witches immediately understood that the tree wanted this twig to be planted, just like the one the Ruthenian witch Roxelana (Роксолана) had planted at this very place, over 1000 years ago. Falke took the twig, and followed her inner voice to the place where they decided to plant this tiny little new willow tree. And this was the start of another journey of 1000 years …

in dark times like these the question arises on how much joy you can allow without feeling like you don't care. especially then, it seems even more important to come together in moments without the weight of the world - on and off the dancefloor - to remember that there is not only darkness on this planet♡

Ah, 2019. What a year it's been. I don't know about y'all but mine has been quite insane... especially this summer.

One of my highlights was playing a small festival out in the middle of the woods / on a lake front for one of my best friend's birthday parties. He threw a little festival for himself and asked me to close the whole night out. 3am to 6am. woof. Not to mention the fact that it was the day after I landed in Seattle from Germany. double Woof. I was so delirious, tired, all the feels you'd expect.

I played a mix of downtempo, with a dash of hip hop throwbacks and instrumentals I had, because most of the crowd was dying out so I wanted to experiment. A select group of friends stayed up the entire time, and when I finally gave the decks a rest, one friend told me "dude, that was the most gangster set I've ever heard....it was tribal, it was earthy and spiritual, but it had like, a thuggish attitude about it..."

I smiled and laughed, but it stuck with me for the rest of summer and into fall. Jungle spiritual beats with a thug attitude about it... interesting... Thus...this mix, was born!

I've been working on this mix for a few months, so apologies for the tardiness. I wanted to really nail the story, the setting. I envisioned a concrete jungle perhaps... a throwback gangster jungle ride... hehe. There hasn't been a LOST mix out in a while. I went through so many takes, so many mistakes, bad mixes, but this one was a journey. I honestly could have recorded another hour or so, I have so many sick edits I wanted to include but I figured it's already waaaay too long haha!

Hope you enjoy, I truly love every track I picked in this, hope you take the time to listen to it all! See y'all in 2020, lot's of Samaha music coming atcha! You know how we dooo it.

2020 starten wir unsere Igelkarussell-Podcastserie mit niemand geringerem, als dem allseits beliebten Downtempokünstler éner. Das Rostocker Urgestein war letztes Jahr zu Gast bei unserer 🌀Bea(s)ts of the loony bin Vol. 6🌀… Wir schwelgen immer noch gern in Erinnerungen an diesen Abend, das war einfach eine magische Nacht - da sind sich alle Beteiligten sicher! Seitdem verbinden uns dieses tolle Erlebnis und wir stehen in regem Austausch miteinander. Als Projektleiter von Deep&smooth und als Teil der Faultierdisko-Crew, leistet er tolle Arbeit mit seinem Team. Die beiden Podcastschannels sind musikalisch ähnlich eingeordnet wie unser Igelkarussell, weshalb wir euch ans Herz legen, bei ihnen auf jeden Fall mal reinzuhören✌️
éner legt schon etliche Jahre auf, wobei er jedoch mit der Zeit immer mehr der Liebe zu Downbeat und Downtempo verfallen ist. Besonders runtergepitchte Housenummern sind ein Markenzeichen a lá éner - „Tracks eine komplett neue Identität zu verschaffen ist ein unglaublich tolles Gefühl“, wie er selbst sagt. Also hört genau hin, es gibt einiges zu entdecken…👂 
Sein zweistündiges Set klingt wie ein Liebesgedicht an entschleunigte elektronische Klänge. Mit eingebauten Spannungsbögen, derben Grooves und dem richtigen Händchen für Melodien verzaubert er die Zuhörer im Nu. Das ist wirklich eine ganz besonderes Musikerlebnis 😻 Vielen Dank für diese traumhafte Reise lieber éner 🧡

Der gemeine mitteleuropäische Spulenigel [Erinaceidae europaeus fusus] ist ein äußerst seltener Vertreter seiner Art.
Entdeckt wurde er in den Sommermonaten des Jahres 2016. Seine Habitate lassen sich laut neuestem Forschungsstand im mittelhessischen Raum lokalisieren.
Er gilt als besonders nachtaktiv und ihm werden ausgeprägte soziale Kompetenzen zugeschrieben. Natürliche Feinde besitzt er keine.

Als zivilisationsfolgende Gattung entwickelte er schnell eine Vorliebe für die dopeste Mucke und nächtliche, ausufernde Umtriebe, weswegen er in freier Wildbahn im fortgeschrittenen Alter verspulte Züge annimmt, die dem Spulenigel letztendlich seinen Namen einbrachten.
