A Brief Utopia (A project by Jinjé) A Brief Utopia was born from an EP released earlier this year by Jinjé (aka, Lee J Malcolm from Vessels) on Scene Unseen. Stepping away from his usual production duties and focusing more on his passion for live drumming and percussion instruments. This was the starting block for much of the composition on the this record. He quickly realised that this would be a brilliant thing to do live and reached out to fellow musicians Danny Templeman (Submotion Orchestra, Gentleman’s DubClub) and Nathan Moseley (Fwar, Brolin) to put together a high energy show aimed at clubs and festivals alike.A Brief Utopia brings a colourful, vibrant and visually engaging experience. Drawing on a love of music from around the world focused through a lens of live drumming, tuned percussion and psychedelic synth work.

Music Makes Me Do

This is the second song of the upcoming BLUE SPACE Compilation. Named after my event series at the legendary Paloma Bar in the heart of Kreuzberg / Berlin the whole project consists of 12 unreleased songs by incredibly talented artists and will be out in September. If you have been to one of the parties you already know what to expect: various sounds from left field hiphop, disco and house, to UK Garage, soulful bass music and back.

For the second single we proudly present DANVERS. With his release "Interludes" on WotNotMusic last year, he blew our minds. His signature sound continues on "Keep Holding On". Enjoy!

Soulstatejazz - You Started (STW Premiere)

The 4th LP from Banoffee Pies Records comes in the form of a debut album from Tom Ellis' new live ensemble, Soulstatejazz. The release titled "Annwn", is the result of a 3 day improvisation at Malt Barn studio, in the beautiful Nanerth Valley in mid Wales, forming a 6 track album of hybrid live/electronic jazz-house. The group, who first performed at Freerotation Festival as a morning journey, soon evolved into a flowing ensemble of musicians brought together by one of the core residents at the festival. With Tom Ellis (Bass, Drums, Percussion & Production), Mark Hand (Fender Rhodes & Moog), Michiel Renger (Tenor Sax) and Dave Elson (homemade Reaktor & Ableton instruments & FX) as the main backline of the band, the LP also features artists and residents connected to Freerotation and Malt Barn studio.

In Welsh folk law it was said "Annwn" [an:un] - "The Otherwold", was a world of delights and beauty located on an island or beneath the earth. A place of eternal youth and good, where food and fair health remained ever abundant as the wage of death and disease fell to it's way side. Commonly identifying in Welsh mythology as an afterlife of paradise.

At the start of this year she got into vinyl — playing everything we have in our studio — and just a week later she smashed a vinyl set on our club night at Badehaus Berlin!

Danish producer and pianist, Uffe makes his On The Corner debut, with "Free House", a killer slice of off-kilter dancefloor madness. Taken from the forthcoming 'Door the Cosmos - Dancefoor Sampler', an 8-track compilation of club-centric but very unpredictable bangers. 

Having built a healthy reputation for producing increasingly jazzed-up and gnarly house, across labels such as Tartelet, Pets, Delusions of Grandeur and Bluberry, Pete OtC finally tracked him down back home in Denmark and managed to prise this gem from him.

On the Corner Records was awarded ‘Label of the Year’ at the Worldwide Awards 2018. OtC is a story of artists and scenes that goes way beyond being a record label. DJ, label owner Pete On the Corner has created a home for innovative, border-crossing, genre-pushing artists. The OtC vision is to bring music to the world that is knocking at the ‘Door To The Cosmos’. The label is an inimitable mixture of Miles Davis ‘call it what you want’ attitude, Sun Ra’s Afro Futurism and the ecstatic soul lifting influence of black music on electronic dance music.   

On ‘Door To The Cosmos – Dancefloor Sampler’ Pete has curated a volume of cuts from present and future label family. This first in the series, is not just knocking at the door but giving it a kick! It’s club music referencing the source, be it Detroit, or UK bass culture combined with future sounds rising from cosmopolitan hotbeds of sonic heat. On this maxi EP Venezuela meets India via New York, the street sound of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania pulses through UK Jungle. Undergrounds pushing the dance, breaking borders and genre alike. Rhythms from the ancestors channelled for future times.

UK based Contours and Yadava team up to release the "Cosmic Echoes" EP, built over numerous jam sessions fusing live percussion, bass, drum machine, synthesizers and field recordings to create a raw EP full of soul and warmth. Released September 4, jointly by Flumo and ANMA Records.

Music is My Sanctuary is proud to premiere the vibrant "Speaking Through Broken Shells", with its bass and drum heavy interaction and influences from the UK jazz scene.

Both Contours and Yadava have been on our radar for a while so we are happy to see them display so great chemistry on this beautiful EP. Destined to sell out, so don't sleep!
