The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed much of the world into a new normal – one that may be filled with feelings of uncertainty, isolation and anxiety. With standard ways to cope unavailable this can be a very difficult time, says Stanford psychiatrist Shaili Jain.

Shaili Jain: The mental health aspects of COVID-19 (2020)

To slow the spread of COVID-19, Stanford Medicine clinicians and patients are taking the traditional office visit online. At 3,000 per day, televisits now make up 40% of all clinical visits at Stanford Health Care, 50 times higher than prior months. And at Stanford Children’s Health, clinicians conducted 500 in one day. Before COVID-19 hit California, it was 35.

Stanford's Michele Barry, MD, has devoted much of her research to global health and emerging infectious diseases. In this podcast, she'll discuss the global response to COVID-19, and how climate change and man's impact on the earth is radically changing how we live with animals, and in turn accelerating zoonotic disease.

As the world continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, Stanford physician Angela Rogers says she has never been prouder to be an ICU doctor. “It does feel like all of the training that we've done, has really prepared us.”

The move follows the implementation of widespread testing of patient-facing employees and numerous other safety measures.
