Franco-German producer Franz Matthews strikes back with his 'As I Am' EP on his own imprint @hifi-lofi-records , a catchy Indie Dance groover with infamous self-reflecting vocals, that is set to wake up every festival stage this summer. Made of 2 sunny originals and backed up by 3 killer remixes from power producers Vhyce, Yame and Tegel Boys, the EP covers all ranges of the Indie Dance spectrum beautifully.

Produced during Matthews' time spent in Barcelona at the beginning of summer 22, As I Am lifts off with a carpet of heavy organs unfolding in a powered up euphoria of synth chords, before a choir of empowering & self reflective gang vocals, reminiscent of early LCD Soundsystem's 'Sound of Silver' days, throw us in our face to fully accept who we are and be proud of our uniqueness. The trip takes us even further in a cosmic festival of funky acid leads which will mind bend any listener that will encounter the path of this catchy happiness filler.

Making the rounds across festivals in the US and playing at renowned venues like Le Poisson Rouge in New York City orBijou in Boston, Carlo Sine has cemented his status in the history of American music. He knows what it takes to getpeople on the dancefloor, being the founder and curator of the Sine Language parties. He is a creator of experienceswith a unique sound, playing with the genres of Psychedelic Disco and House to create his signature Sine sound

.His latest EP ‘Mr. Undercover’ continues his exploration into the Dark Disco genre, bringing in remixes from MartinCozar and Rigopolar. With the self titled track pulling you deep into song and rhythm, the real Mr. Undercover’s vocalscreep up on you mid-track. The synths act as a coverup, with the vocals swiftly disappearing back into the electronic beatbefore you can discover more about him. 

The second track ‘Duty’ comes in much harsher with a steady (almost industrial)beat, with the occasional dystopian sound of a robotic announcement. This is the last song you will dance to beforeartificial intelligence takes over the earth, so make it count. 

Martin Cozar’s remix of ‘Mr. Undercover’ turns the trackmore sinister, as it becomes more of a deep dance where one suspects that Mr. Undercover is lurking on the dancefloor.

Rigopolar’s remix of ‘Duty’ is a strong end to the EP, as you wind down in the brain of a computer. No longer a dystopianrendition of the end of the world, you feel yourself give in to the psychedelic sounds whilst being guided by a calm robot-woman into the future. 

The EP as a whole feels like an exploration of hidden identities amidst the contrast of stricttechnological worlds; ‘Mr. Undercover’ is for listeners of the future to delve into their undercover selves.

The ‘Mr. Undercover’ EP is set to be released on all platforms on August 19th, 2024 via Rigopolar’s Miami based TourDe Infinite label.

The annual Bonkers Music compilation returns, delivering another round of high-energy bangers. A1. Neskeh’s “106 Cabrel” revolves around a melodic yet hypnotically repetitive lead sequence, crafted to evoke a trance-like state on the dance floor and radiate positive energy. The foundation of big, punchy kicks and a robust bassline gives it a quintessential club vibe.

Stuck in Traffic is olliray’s first album. The story begins in 2017 with the release of BoxRox, a small electronic idea that became the spark for everything that followed. Over the next two years the music grew slowly and naturally in a small flat in South London. Most of the songs began as simple synth sketches that later opened into fuller pieces with piano, guitar and voice.

The title came from a real moment in late 2018. Olliray was waiting for his dad to arrive for lunch. His dad was stuck in traffic and the delay gave him an unexpected pocket of time. In that quiet stretch he recorded all the vocals for the title track in one take. When his dad finally arrived he played him the music and asked what he should call it. His dad smiled and gave the answer that became the name of the whole album.

Stuck in Traffic holds the feeling of that early period. Raw, instinctive and made by ear. A blend of electronic textures and intimate melodies shaped between 2017 and late 2018, and released in January 2019.

For fans of synthwave, retrowave and 80s inspired electronic music.

Despite the challenges and weirdness of the year, boundary-blazing bandoleros Duro continue to shoot through 2020, all-pistols-blazing. Releases have fired from all corners but one of the strongest themes has been the ‘Muy Duro’ volumes. The Mexican label’s flagship V/A series, each EP digs deep into the dark disco psyche, celebrating the label’s widest sonic outposts and reference points with friends and shared spirits from across the world, old and new. Marking a year of the series, with tracks from Israel to Istanbul, ‘Muy Duro Volume 5’ is certainly no exception.

Veteran cosmic groover Tim Paris makes his long-awaited debut with the slouching funk and broken drum swagger of ‘Better Slightly Unchanged’ before two more collaborations join the party with their Duro debuts, all hailing from Israel; Middle Sky Boom and AckerMan whisk us through the stars on ‘Temp Goes High’ while Rina X Benji pay homage to mind alteration on the electroid bumps and asteroid grinds of ‘Koshmaro’.

Professional belly dancers and long-time friends of Duro Hanzo & Yaman follow with ‘Hokus Pokus’. A springy, playful slab of house music laced with pitched bells and a riser that teases and teases, there’s a late 90s/early 200s mischief to this that, like the label itself, just won’t quit. The final word comes from the label bossman Theus Mago and French brother-in-arms Id!r… And that word is techno. Deep bleeps and endless pulsations, ‘Soft Light’ is an epic moment of pure late night hedonism that sits somewhere between Bobby Peru and Plastikman. Blazing boundaries and still fully loaded, the Duro bandoleros keep on shooting.
