In physics, entropy is a quantity generally described as the measure of disorder within any kind of thermodynamic system, including the universe. It counts the microscopic states that system can assume when open, interacting with others or getting altered by external conditions.
Thus, entropy makes for the perfect description of the way Ilpo Väisänen (Pan sonic, I- LP-O IN DUB) and Dirk Dresselhaus (Schneider TM, A S S, Locust Fudge) have approached music creation since the establishment of their collaborative project Angel (now die Angel) in 1999. Allowing energy to flow freely through machines, bodies and different acoustic conditions, they’ve generated a powerful archive of mutating sonic states. A kind of creative attitude that favors exploring the physical complexity of unstructured electronics.
That’s where the title for their first release on Cosmo Rhythmatic comes from, “Entropien” being the Finnish word and the German plural for entropy. Getting back to the stripped down set of their beginnings (modular synths, effects, and processed guitar), they’ve come out with one of their most, intense, rawest and noisiest albums to date, showcasing an impressing scale of dynamics while attacking the senses with belligerent tones. Oren Ambarchi also shows up on two tracks, intertwining his drums, field recording, and guitar within the duo’s discordant layers.
Entropien I is dedicated to Mika Vainio. May your soul rest in peace.

Standards & Practices returns after an extended hiatus with its first release for 2020 and the label's first-ever compilation. Showcasing six exclusive tracks from a variety of musically like-minded allies both new and established, "Out Of Practice Vol. 1" finds some of the most talented artists currently working in electronic music refining their sound and pushing their craft in exciting new directions.

Stave and Grebenstein's "Rack 4", their first collaboration since 2018's acclaimed "Live From Frankfurter Strasse", kicks off the proceedings with a view into a bleak, dystopian sonic landscape, while Italian producer VSK, known for his excellent EPs on Mord and 47 (among others) delivers "Pendulum", one of his best tracks to date - a visceral, unrelenting, broken-beat behemoth. Closing side A is Chicago native Todd Mattei 's contribution, "Lake Charles", a beautifully textured Frippian soundscape.

Kristian Jabs, better known to most as Pessimist, opens side B with "Rut", a sleek, stripped-down, techno track that positively drips with moody atmospherics and tension. Overlook and Karim Maas's contribution, the dense and claustrophobic "Chalk", is an ultra-heavy breaks track with hoovers and enough sub-bass to shatter blocks of granite. "7th Recording 29", an ambient piece which represents Jonathan Krohn's first recorded collaboration with long-time friend and associate Benjamin Mjolsness since their work together in the group Male - closes the compilation.

This compilation marks the re-relaunch of our label. With “A Rock, A River, A Tree” you’ll get kind of an overview what our residents are up to.

Like at our events we not just focus on one style but try to be open minded genre wise.

While the legendary „Robert Babicz“ delivers a driving emotional progressive house remix of „Hardy Heller’s & Alex Connors“ track „Ever Growing“ our Ohral Resident „Marc DePulse“ comes up with a cool track which we would describe as a beautiful electronica track.

Our Norwegian friend „DJ Akipa“ got remixed by „Chris Cargo“ from Belfast. A producer, dj , artist who is very well known and gets regular support from artists like „Nick Warren“, „Hernan Cattaneo“, „Sasha“, „John Digweed“, „Dave Seaman“ and so on.

Our Ohral Resident “TdK” did also his first steps in the studio – his first production to date is called “E1ns” and an up to date melodic house monster. “Sven Kegel” met these “Girls of Ipanema” at the beach. The result is “Beach Dancer” – a house track which will surely give you a smile on your face. “AC Fuser”, which is a project by “Alex Connors & SundB” are taking the housy vibe with their tune “Houze Kids” to a different level. “Arpatec”, the techno project of our two beauties “Maxie König” and “Alex Connors” add a stomping techno track to this “Ohral Showreel”. Same does our “Dominik Heid” with “Heat”.

Last but not least you’ll find a „Broken Beats – Version“ of the track „Caramoan“ by „Maxie König“, who just did a remix for „Tim Engelhardt“ on „Poker Flat“… which just got support by non other than John Digweed… whoohooo !
