Ultimae label founder Vincent Villuis aka AES Dana returns to one of his favourite emotional fields with (a) Period. and explores these times of forlornness and oblivion in a Cinematic Ambient 10 chapter story. 

As a creative observer, the French artist instantiates our endeavour to establish stillness, he steers the tale with a wide palette of sensitive chords, melting distant rumbles into bittersweet melodies and diaphanous pads thus leading the listener to a state of introspection and intimate isolationism. 

AES Dana's 9th album "(a) period. " stands as an elegy for unimaginable loss, and, as the composer says, "any resemblance with your personal experience is no coincidence".

While utilizing AI generation for initial concepts (pictures, album art, lyrics, musical foundation), this music is the result of extensive and documented human creative direction, editing, and production. Manual and complex AI-prompting shaped the raw material. Lyrics underwent significant manual editing for narrative, flow, and emotional impact. The core musical composition was refined through human arrangement choices. The production involved intensive manual mixing and mastering: multi-stem editing, stem correction, octaving, precise cuts, gain staging, dynamic balancing, low-frequency mono processing, pocketing and boosting energy points, bass excitation, sculpting bass harmonics, detailed sound design, effect application, side-chaining, compression, multiband dynamics, tempo fine-tuning, equalization for clarity and reduction of muddiness, loudness optimization, panoramic placement, frequency analysis, targeted high/low-frequency cuts, and LUFSi correction.

Bio:

Immersed in the synth-pop and electronica of the Eighties growing up in southern England, State Azure (b. 1972) found early inspiration in Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, and Vangelis. Deconstructing their tracks ignited his passion, leading him to develop a foundational understanding of electronic music theory, composition and production entirely by ear and experimentation.

He honed his skills as a keyboardist and producer within live bands before venturing into solo ambient/experimental territory. This self-taught journey fostered a deeply improvisational and emotional approach, free from the confines of formal training.

State Azure's sonic world is further shaped by influences beyond music, drawing heavily from science fiction, cosmology, physics, and technology.

Seizing the opportunity presented by the burgeoning online music scene, he launched the State Azure project to connect directly with listeners, debuting with the album 'Outlines' in December 2011.
