Rules of the game:  A player receives the last 2 minutes of sound from the previous participant, without any further information on the duration and content of the session. This fragment then becomes the beginning of its own session. Each participant will have only one day to make his or her own sound session. The maximum duration of the session is 20min (minimum 5 minutes).  The sound content is totally free (simple sequence of mixed or unmixed pieces, a mini live, recordings, indoor field recording etc...)

For the second episode of Scene city (@scenecityeu) on Mutant radio, André (aka. Staxl @staxl_andre) presents a bunch of unreleased and fresh stuff from artists and labels based in Leipzig, Germany. He got introduced to the local scene through organizing punk and experimental DIY shows and later on joining PRACHT collective - a club dedicated to discovering as well as supporting innovative/progressive music. In that, they're not being committed to a specific style, but try to trace the uncharted, left-field and engaging strands of culture. Correspondingly, this mix for Scene city displays a wide variety of genres - from electroacustics and computer music through bass music to post-punk and beyond - and encompasses mostly unreleased music, plus some cassette and digital releases and live recordings.

« A quarante ans, je continuais à porter des mini-jupes, des motifs extravagants, du rose, du ﬂuorescent, des étoiles en guise de boucle d’oreilles. Je continuais de me balader avec mon chapeau léopard, mon sac-peluche, mon ensemble à ﬂeurs, et puis j’ai senti dans le regard des autres que je n’avais plus l’âge pour le faire. Je suis pourtant la même qu’à mes 16 ans, c’est les autres que je vois changer » 
 On ne peut mieux décrire ce qu’est le vieillissement, sinon dans cet écart qui nait et ne cesse de croître, entre réalité physique et image spéculaire de soi : L’une s’abîme avec le temps, exposée aux lois cruelles de la pesanteur et de l’oxydation, l’autre, ne vieillit pas, reste intacte et vierge de toute altération, ﬁgée à un moment où l’on se sentait bien. Plus le temps passe, plus l’écart qui se creuse devient monde. Il peut en devenir si douloureux que beaucoup cherchent à y échapper, usant et abusant de tous les artiﬁces. 
 Youth looks so good on you est une balade sonore explorant avec étrangeté le monde intérmédiaire qui se trouve entre réalité et fanstame de soi, un monde où le culte esthétique de la jeunesse se fait le souverain du peuple.

Naomie Klaus est une productrice de musique et chanteuse française, basée à Bruxelles. Se considérant comme une actrice ratée, elle construit sa musique sous forme d’histoires et de micro-séquences dans lesquelles elle s’amuse à interpréter différents personnages avec sa voix. Elle évoque un conte de fées pour adultes, où les princesses que l’on rencontre sont des nymphomanes hystériques, armées et mal habillées.

SCRYING THE LADSCAPE VIII w. Elina Tapio & Hannah Pezzack
The history of sound in warfare and its application to control and exert violence has been most prominently explored by Steve Goodman in his seminal book Sonic Warfare: Sound, Affect, and the Ecology of Fear (2012). The book maps out the political landscape of vibration that is routinely exploited with aims to generate domination, by utilizing the violence of sound through its ideological, psychological, or physiological threats. These threats take form as the affect of noise in its widest meaning, or sound technologies designed to conquer, such as “sonic booms”, previously hidden military techniques of torture, LRADs, and more. This episode of Scrying the Landscape aims to claim techniques of sonic warfare to retaliate with dissidence and agency found within the psychoacoustics of violence; its bass and noise magnified to infect the domineering culture, including many artists whose music amplify voices and stories of those standing against a prevailing establishment.

Bergsonist is a musician/dj based in NYC originally from Morocco. She is the founder of bizaarbazaar, an independent platform showcasing music since 2010. Monthly she will use her radio show as medium to showcase guests with unique sonic visions as well as her own mushrooming music archive.

A. Campbell Payne dives deeply into the crystalline chimes and resonant bells of FM synthesis for the six tracks of 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒔 + 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔. Swirling polyrhythms and ambiguous modal harmonies convey their feelings during a fitful period of recording during 2020-1. Payne says, “Living between two places[…], going through the motions of travel while not going anywhere new created a restless atmosphere for performing this music,” which is reflected by cyclic structures both within and between tracks.

In contrast to the sparkling timbres of 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒔 + 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, subtle compositional instabilities imply an underlying unease. But as a complete suite, it is intended as “an aide in processing feelings of dread, anxiety, and hopelessness”, and Payne continues: “I encourage you to listen to this while on a hike or in other contemplative, open settings.”
