Slamming in for exposure via Cassy’s commanding imprint Kwench Records is venerated DJ, producer and label chief Alex Arnout with a vitalising two-track EP.

Inspired by the rich house tracks dispatched by Danny Tenaglia’s Tribal America label in the mid ‘90s, the EP aims for nostalgia-grabbing gold and takes hold with ‘Afrofuturism’. Loaded with low-end grooves and mesmeric, spaced-out vocal hooks, it’s guaranteed to put dancers in the zone. ‘Riffin’ cuts in like a temptress, with an equally absorbing vocal hook and slamming drum loops for a satisfying payoff.

Premiere: Alex Arnout "Riffin" - Kwench Records

Deeper Moods blurs the lines between deep techno and deep progressive house. Swirling synths rinse over razor sharp beats that are equalized for maximum head-fuck. The underlying pad is almost hypnotizing with the snycopated melody created by the hi-hats. This one is really set to take over dance floors...immense energy released with perfect subtlety. 

This three-tracker expresses Jan & Erik's true talent for stellar production and innovation in dance music. Faithfully nodding their heads to the founding fathers up in the windy and motor cities Nite Food is a versatile four to the floor record with something for everyone, from fans of Theo Parish all the way to Danny Tenaglia...



Nu Mood Orchestra- Deeper Moods

Few of our friends have been working with us since day one so it is with great pride and emotion that we welcome our "very fantastic" friend Dachshund back on the label. The Geneva artist graces us with two originals that we simply had to feature on our Limited catalog. 

"Dream" is a nice bouncing shuffled groove with a hypnotic loopey character to it, smoothly arranged with scattered delayed vocals creating a clever yet slightly confusing "smokey" club atmosphere.

"Feel" is nothing short of a true masterpiece of electronic music. A "pizzicato" stripped-back dry beat and metallic modular sounding percussions take us on a mental and disconcerting trip. We litterally fell in love with this number - it's dark but not too dark and its insane synths and vocoders abruptly making appearances almost scared us at times: very entertaining! Perfect for the early hours of the morning, keeping the mind's attention and the hips in motion. Nothing is obvious, each role is interesting and perfectly executed. Thank you!

Rydim is a mystery. Well, partly… One thing that isn’t a mystery is the high level of acid house authenticity at play here. Dark, heads-down strobe light seduction with the focus squared firmly on the soul of the dance. 

‘FOMO’ lives up to its name thanks to some ominous reese craft. Purring savagely throughout the track, leaving space for the sinewy 303s to dance wildly, it sucks you right in and spits you back out into the lasers at speed. Miss it, miss out. 

Don’t miss either Johannes Albert’s remix or the Bass Tool either; the former maintains the acid but re-shapes the bass into a warmer vibe while the latter strips everything back to that growing, heated bassline. Both will leave everyone in the house happy… 

Finally we have ‘Fairlight’. A homage to the mother of all samplers? That’s another mystery to solve. But we do know it’s another beauty from Ridym; naked beats and bass with crucial pads woven in for optimum breath-takes, every rush any dancer has ever felt since the 80s is saluted and celebrated right here. Rydim is a dancer…

 Statra Recordings is the well-respected independent record label founded by Brooklyn native Dave Tomaselli back in April of 1999 with a simple mission... focus on quality over quantity, and never be bound to any one genre.
 
 The label quickly set the benchmark for quality electronic music in the US with its unconventional A&R style and the infamous compilation series Harry The Bastard Presents - Club H. Copies of which have be found trading hands on the web for upwards of $100. A succession of innovative and highly coveted albums and singles from artists like Jeff Sharel, Denver McCarthy, Charles Webster, Mr. Velcro Fastener, and the 2000 label compilation Statras Paradigm Shift quickly propelled Statra onto the international stage.
