Guitars, guitars, guitars.....and some more guitars! With a few other devices thrown in (notably, a Line 6 DL4 looping pedal).

All the tracks here are emissions from the venerable 'Steam Abacus' - once a wheezing old pentium-powered antique (Windows 98SE!, mainly utilising Cubase VST 3.7, Cool Edit Pro and T-Racks), now resurrected as an only-slightly-antiquated younger specimen (Windows XP, Cubase SX, et al).

Much is initially recorded direct to minidisc before being edited/compiled on the Steam Abacus.

Some older tracks even started life on Compact Cassette.

Terminal Blox is a concept, electronic, synthesized, experimental. The name, a twist on 'Terminal blocks' used in electrical wiring, is the alternative name for Ray Lindley.
"I enjoy messing with sound !...Go figure ! I started using synthesisers, sequencers, drum machines etc.. around 2009 and that's also when I started learning about them. There have been so many different machines coming and going over the years but I try to keep that under control these days"
currently using a small semi modular, boutique, analogue set up with some digital synth here and there and outboard fx. hardware is ALWAYS the order of the day.
The Moog sound studio trio is the centre stage of the sound source and processing control along with a digital synth here and there.
Recording, mixing and finishing is now on a Zoom R24 (as from August 2022)

I play the piano and compose. I have recently retired from my career as a computer network manager, and now have time to devote to recording in my red room at home.

My pride and joy is a Petrof model V 158cm grand that I have had since December 2010. I also have an interesting German upright made in Eisenberg about a century ago, refurbished in North London about 5 years ago. It had two fabricators names, originally it was sold as a Barraud, but when I removed the wooden name plate underneath it was named Montague. I would surmise some piano factory in Eisenberg was willing to put the piano dealers name on their product, and originally Montague ordered it but for some reason that fell through so Barraud then was the final dealership. It has the most amazing bass tone I have ever come across, more beautiful than a Steinway concert D and other such wonders of the piano maker's art. I also have a John Morley Clavichord built in the 1970s from an eighteenth century design, which I sometimes mic up with a Dean Markley acoustic guitar pickup puttied to the soundboard.

In the 1990s I played in a festival band called Triptych and an ambient electronic outfit called Jaglan Beta, and I acquired some fruity analogue synths which I still own and occasionally fish out for some spacey sound production. A JEN SX1000 made in Italy in the 1980s has a gorgeous tone, monophonic and pure. Also a Roland Alpha Juno with outboard programmer which can produce blobbiness of cosmic proportions. For sampled sounds I use a Roland Rhodes 660 which has monumental Orchestral Strings and some very convincing French Horn sounds.
