Zara

Sabla is a project born and raised in Turin, devotely committed to the study of hypnotic sounds and polyrhythmics.  He’s co-founder of Gang of Ducks, a collective which takes care of music releases, editorial issues and art projects. 

He has released two Ep,  Spirits on Gang Of Ducks and DanzaGuida on Dont’dj’ DISK.  He also appeared on compilation on Amsterdam’s Knekheluis, Bristol Normcore and Hivern Discs.
 
In November 2021 he has released his first album, Music for Melted Floors, on Pensaments Sònics, a new project run by the team of Hivern Discs.

"It's been quite some years since I wanted to record a mix based on Muslimgauze-only tracks so I took a podcast invitation from Electric Shapes as a chance to finally do it.

I dug in around 60 of the over 90 albums recorded by Bryans Jones over his 16 years of activity and went into the rabbit hole of his insane discography.

I realized that there could really be hundreds of directions you can take by doing a mix right in his records, this is one of them. Hope you’ll enjoy the journey."

We are very happy to have a new Phase Group mix to share with you thanks to Jazz from Australia. 

Jazz lives in Naarm where she hosts the weekly Spaces Within Space radio shows every Sunday night at midnight on PBS 106.7 fm. Her radio shows and mixes  showcase an amazing selection and ability to blend varying textures, tempos and soundscapes that comes with a deep knowledge of electronic music. She's an in demand DJ in Naarm regularly playing in clubs around the city whilst working hard to push the local scene and she also recently released her first original music on @phenomenarecords in the form 'Subtype' a brilliant half-tempo, dubbed out, percussive, psychedelic acid/idm track that she produced in collaboration with Georgia bird.

Her mix for us moves through those same psychic, cerebral and echoing spaces, taking in downtempo acid, dark idm, lofi drum machine jams and  slow trance atmospheres.

Sommermix II

For this edition Betonska/Dzungla is collaborating with Spanish label Organic Signs, who happen to have re-issued another work by Sebastian Taylor: Digitalis - Soma Junkies. In line with this release, Organic Signs have organised a secret party in the middle of nature and close to Madrid called Refractor, with a stellar line-up, and the one and only Digitalis/Biotone among others. And in honour of the festival, Jan Swam recorded a very special mix as part of the Betonska Basta series. Here’s what he has to say about it:

“This is Alejandro aka Jan Swam, label manager of the Spanish label organic Sings. I want to present you a very special mix that has been made in honour of Refractor, a very special date that is taking place on the 27th of May in a secret spot in the middle of nature next to Madrid.

And I say it's very special because it's a like collaborative mix: I asked each artist playing at Refractor to send me a couple of tracks that reminded them of an event like this, and I mixed them together with my contribution and the one of Iggy P.

I also wanted to show that in a world where there is a lot of toxic competition, joining forces always wins in the end. Betonska and Organic Signs have re-released different akas by Seb Taylor (Biotone & Digitalis), and nothing makes me happier than meeting each other and being able to collaborate on this mix.

Ute Mix Series #87 | Zara

Something a bit different from our usual podcasts, today is all about psychedelic raving with no other one than @ultralowvelocity, the upcoming project from @antoinnnnnnnne and @a_strange_wedding 

“Ultra low velocity zones (ULVZs) are patches on the core-mantle boundary that have extremely low seismic velocities. The zones are mapped to be hundreds of kilometers in diameter and tens of kilometers thick. Their shear wave velocities can be up to 30% lower than surrounding material. The composition and origin of the zones remain uncertain.

In the middle of the summer, lost in the mountains of Ardèche in France, took place the mighty Champs Libres event, hosted by the one and only @rochel. It is in this magnificent landscape and surrounded by friends from all over the country that ULV came to life.

As the sun went down and the stars started to shine, they drove the crowd through a 3 hours journey, from abstract percussion madness to deep and visceral techno, slowly sinking the dancefloor into a psychedelic madness, where minds and bodies dance in the warped space time.”
