Happy new year!!! This is the very first Ambient Sessions podcast of 2017!

Welcome to the 28th chapter. This first session in 2017 is mixed by Michiro Sotomura from Japan. 

Bio:

Michihiro’s from Morioka city in Iwate and now living Uenohara city in Yamanashi. Active as a DJ since 1996 in Morioka. As the organizer of 'aquart', his themes center around transformation of heart and body led by sound. His mixing style known as simple yet smooth, using subtle Ambient / Electronica / Downtempo / Techno sound sources, pulsating each note.In 2009, Michihiro graduated from the YogaJaya International Teacher Training at the YJA300 level, And he had taught Hatha Yoga at YogaJaya for six years from 2009 to 2015. And also he have teaching experience more than 1000 hours and he is now a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher 200E-RYT and YACEP with the Yoga Alliance,and now he organizes "un." that aims the life to connect and harmonize the nature and the human.

Bio
Jeremy Meadow is a San Francisco-based DJ who has been experimenting with performances of ambient and dub techno for several years. Inspired by the futurism of techno and the sounds of early IDM and ambient albums as a child, he has been taking the opportunity to showcase less overtly danceable styles of electronic music at events in San Francisco and at smaller festivals around the US.

Hello there. For the 37th episode of the series, I introduce you to Koen Hoets with a deep and immersive exploration of sound. Here are his words :

« Still exploring the way I want to present my ideas for ambient music that can trigger our synesthesia sense but then In a more imaginary way. Having experienced this a few times at some interesting nights, I would really like to share my thoughts on that to listeners so they can maybe get the same experience. 

Playing with a thin line between low tempo dubby sounds and the more darker ambient lines, I want to create a tension. In some parts of the set you will emerge in deep thought while some subtle shifts of direction in sound can give a feeling of distraction which is meant to lead you to a more deeper form of listening. 

I am also preparing something special for the Moroccan festival "Under the desert stars" this summer. »

Sure you will be hooked as I am with this mindgame.

Neglect (Tucson-based artist and musician Joseph Valentino) is an ambient music project that chronicles the beauty of the American Southwest and Pacific Northwest with sparse, elliptical melodic fragments on guitar and synths. Influenced by sources as diverse as dub, detroit techno, 90's IDM, and abstracted sound art, Valentino's music mines the deep emotional resonance and meditative quality of the endlessly repeating ostinato melody, like Wolfgang Voight's Gas project, Stars Of The Lid, and William Basinski.

These improvised musical pieces were recorded live in Brittany by Maxime Mouttet and Benoît Lefeuvre. 

They soundscape the fictional exploration of a chasm with crystallizing walls, remodeled by erosion through the work of salt and water over time. 

This natural process has guided their musical approach, mixing field recordings and re-arranged raw sound materials to carve them as a set of unique instruments, sometimes playing as a discordant ensemble, sometimes in symbiosis.
