DJ Q isn’t just part of the UKG and Bassline story, he wrote key chapters and now he’s setting the record straight with Foundations, his definitive return to the raw sound that shaped him.
Q is a pioneer whose imprint on UK underground dance music runs deeper than most. Nearly two decades in the game have cemented him as one of the most technically gifted, respected, and versatile DJs in the country full stop.
From the breakout anthems to the charting “You Wot!”, Q brought Northern Bassline to national attention at a time when most of the industry ignored it. He didn’t follow trends, he built them. Thanks for listening in, these are some tracks I made for fun nearly 10 years ago using FL Studio, ReFX Nexus 2 (I actually paid for this one), East West Symphonic Orchestra, Gladiator and other random VSTS floating around on torrents back in the day. 

I sometimes come back and listen to them, and shudder at the frankly terrible "mixdowns" before nodding my head to the likes of "Gladiator vs Spartan" and "Nightmare" - they did sound good when I made them (I was high as hell when I made all of these beats).

I wish I kept these FLP projects to re-work them, but I still have the samples and VST files so maybe one day when I am absolutely bored I might be tempted to jump back on some Grime. One day.
