Safari Sound was founded in south Sweden in 2003 by a couple of reggae fans and record collectors who loved reggae music since they first discovered it during their early school days. Two of the three founding members left the sound leaving Shirkhan to carry on the Safari name. Shortly after the founding members left, Zoro joined the sound as Safari’s first MC. Zoro and Shirkhan played the sound together until Zoro decided to focus on his career as a recoding artist.

In late 2006 Sammy K joined the sound as an MC. Together he and Shirkhan began taking the sound to the next level. Safari quickly established their name as one of the major contributors to the music scene in Southern Sweden. Safari established their presence through their show on Swedish National Radio, regular mixtape releases and several weekly and monthly events.

In 2009 Safari Sound started doing guest mixes for Din Gata (a local radio station belonging to Swedish National Radio). These mixes were so popular the sound was offered a monthly radio slot on P3, the biggest radio station in Sweden, which is apart of Swedish National Radio. The popularity of the monthly program grew to the point that in 2011 Safari was offered a weekly spot on Musikguiden i P3 every Friday evening (in 2017 the day changed to Wednesdays in order to attract more traffic).

This placement made Safari’s show the biggest Reggae and Dancehall show in Scandinavia.

In 2011 Safari relocated from its birthplace Malmö to Stockholm. Some of the events that made the sound famous were also re-launched in Stockholm.

In 2014 Safari Sound started participating in soundclashes, two in Stockholm and one in Denmark.

In 2015 DJ Autograph, longtime colleague and friend, joined the sound. DJ Autograph was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica and moved to New York in the 90s. He worked behind the scenes until mid 2016 when his announcement as part of Safari was made official along with his move to Sweden.

2017 was the year Safari Sound dedicated themselves to releasing original music via their own label. This resulted in the formation of Safari Records in early 2018, together with Swedish producer Binnie Smalls. The first single (Pon Di DJ with Red Fox) was released early 2018 and was followed up by an official remix of Chronixx’s mega scorcher Likes. Look out for more releases from Safari Records in 2018.

Originality, quality and their ability to play for any type of crowd has gained Safari supporters both within Sweden and internationally. Safari has toured Europe, Japan, Gambia, The Middle East, USA and Jamaica, performing at festivals and clubs in the aforementioned places.

Safari Sound is known for playing the latest Reggae & Dancehall mixed with exclusive dubplates and remixes. These days you should expect the unexpected when you catch the sound jugglin’: from old school Rub A Dub Reggae to todays Hip-Hop and R&B to 90s Dancehall scorchers and todays dancehall anthems. One thing is certain, when you step into a Safari Sound party you’re guaranteed to be at every future Safari event.

Autograph began DJing at the age of 13 on the Island of Jamaica where he was born and raised. He continued to hone his craft and expand his musical knowledge after moving to New York City. He has played in many venues around New York as well as several other US states. He has also DJ'ed in various countries around the world such as Australia (Sidney, Melbourne,Brisbane, Byron Bay), South Korea (Seoul), Italy (Milan, Silento) and Poland (Warsaw), just to name a few. He now resides in Stockholm Sweden where as a member of Safari Sound International he continues to spread the musical vibes as both a DJ and Producer.

Meet one of the top mixtape specialists on the island of Jamaica, DJ Junky, 

Dj Junky who is based in the tourist resort town of Ochi Rios Jamaica, started out as a deejay playing on Echo One System but later moved on to joined the Eagle Force team.

The sound systems life was not his style so in 2010 he decided to take a different route in the music business by doing mixtapes and he has never ever looked back.

One question which comes to everyone mind when they see or heard the name 'DJ Junky' is how did that name came about.

Junky said when he was much younger he used to clash his friends using his cell phone. He said they use to call him Junky and he just added the Deejay to it, thus came about the name 'DJ Junky'.

With sales on dancehall and reggae music down, one would wonder why he would venture in these turbulent water at this time.

Out of the love for music and the inspiration from sound systems like Black Chiney, Cash Money and Bad Influence Sound he continued on his musical journey. Junky said at one point he thought about giving up but got further motivation from Kerry-Ann Brown and Dj B Gee from Blaze 99.9fm in New Jersey.

With close to a thousand mixtapes under his belt, DJ Junky continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the mixtape business. His most successful mixtapes are 'Popcaan Nuh Shakiness', 'Gyal Settingz Vol.1' and 'Gyal Settingz Vol.2 hosted by ZJ Sparks from Zip 103 FM together they have garnered hundreds of Thousands downloads.

But it have not been smooth sailing for the upcoming Disc Jock as he has faced a number of challenges. Junky said his Mediafire, Sound Cloud and other accounts were closed out. This he said was done by people envy him in the business.

But giving up is not an option for DJ Junky as the young Disc Jocky set his eyes steady on being the top Mixtape disc jock on the island of Jamaica. His dream is to play alongside heavyweights like Major Lazer and Afro Jack.

Due to the success of his mixtapes he was invited by the management of Blaze FM 99.9 in New Jersey, there he played live on air for his fans, this led to him landing a gig at the famous Club Eclipse which is also located in New Jersey.

Producing

DJ Junky recently formed the Fullforce Entertainment team, this is the producing side of his business. Their first major release is the Kriminal Instinct Riddim which is co produced by Sting G Music. Junky said they are also getting ready to release a brand new single from recording artiste Uycorn title 'Puppy Tail'. Other artiste working under his label are George P and D'koncp formerly known as Squaddy.
