I am a music teacher at Oskarshams Folkhögskola, where I teach classical singing, composition, music theory and chamber music. 
I am also a singer with primarily art songs on my repertoire, a hobby composer and poet and a founding member of the Mönsterås Jazz and Chamber Music Society.
I studied composition at Ingesund College of Music and Baroque counterpoint at Uppsala University and mostly write vocal music for song and piano, and/or choir but eventually compose for other instruments and ensembles as well.
I have been called "a radiant talent in finding the essentials in different musical styles" (Arvika Nyheter, December 4, 2006) and regional news paper Barometern wrote that my music shows "good insight in choice of melody and harmonic part writing" (September 25, 2012).
My music has been performed in Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Sweden and USA.

Notable works are:

"Three nocturnal Songs Op. 11", song cycle of three songs for soprano and piano. Premiered by Cecilia Alrikson and Natalja Shakova in Oskarshamn, Sweden in 2018.

"Night songs Op. 6", song cycle of five songs for baritone and piano. Premiered by Anthony Schneider and Rosemary Barnes in Vienna, Austria in 2013.

"Ave Maria - String quartet in d minor Op. 12", string quartet in three movements. Published by Gusthold Music, USA in 2020.

"Av hjärtat, sjung! Op. 22", cantata in five movements for STB soloists, SATB and childrens choir, string quartet and piano. Comissioned for the opening concert of the four day festival "L'Esprit - upplev 1700-talet" (L'Esprit - Experience the 18th century) in 2020.

"Joie de vivre - Piano sonata No. 2" Op. 23, sonata in four movements for solo piano. Composed in 2020.

"Jaktsonaten - Violin sonata No. 1 Op. 13", sonata in four movements for violin and piano. Composed in 2016.

Hailed by the New York Times for his “robust voice, agility and confidence,” Robert McPherson returns to Opera Vlaandaren for his first performances of Gernando and Ubaldo in Rossini’s Armida, New Israeli Opera for Nadir in Les pêcheurs de perles, and Utah Opera for Camille in The Merry Widow. He also makes his Metropolitan Opera debut as Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro and, in his home state of Washington, sings Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore. Upcoming engagements include returns to the Metropolitan Opera and English National Opera. Last season, he made his first appearance with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, singing Duca in Act III of Rigoletto in the company’s annual Stars of Lyric Opera concert conducted by Sir Andrew Davis at Millennium Park. He returned to Vlaamse Opera to reprise Leopold in La Juive and joined Anchorage Opera as the title role of The Impresario and as Mozart in Rismky-Korsakov’s Mozart and Salieri. On the concert stage, he joined New Israeli Opera for performances of Britten’s War Requiem, Houston Ballet for Stravinsky’s Les noces, National Symphony Orchestra for a Berlioz program, and the Portland Symphonic Choir for Mozart’s Requiem. He also returned to the Metropolitan Opera Roster for The Merry Widow.

Hailed for his distinctive artistry and virtuosic technique within the bel canto literature, Mr. McPherson’s performances include, Ramiro in La cenerentola and Lindoro in L’italiana in Algeri with Washington National Opera; Rodrigo in La donna del lago with New York City Opera, Teatro Carlo Felice, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Opéra-Théâtre d'Avignon, La Coruña Mozart Festival, and Opera Orchestra of New York; Idreno in Semiramide with Vlaamse Opera and on tour at the Edinburgh Festival; Arbace in Ciro in Babilonia at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Tonio in La fille du regiment with New Israeli Opera; Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Opéra de Vichy, Caramoor International Music Festival, and Pacific Opera Victoria; Jago in Rossini’s Otello with Opera Orchestra of New York; Ernesto in Don Pasquale with Utah Opera and Lyric Opera of Kansas City; Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera San Jose; and Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore with Opera Santa Barbara and Greensboro Opera. He has sung both demanding tenor roles in Il viaggio a Reims, joining New Israeli Opera, Vlaamse Opera, and Stadttheater Bern for Belfiore and Teatro Carlo Felice for Count Liebenskof. In his home state of Washington, he has sung Narciso in Il turco in Italia with Tacoma Opera and Elvino in La sonnambula. He previously joined the Metropolitan Opera roster for its productions of I puritani and Il barbiere di Siviglia.

His performances of the Italian Tenor in Der Rosenkavlier with San Francisco Opera prompted the San Francisco Chronicle to exclaim that he “brought the first act to a stunned stop with his strikingly beautiful account of the Italian Tenor's aria.” He returned to New Israeli Opera for Leopold in La Juive, a role he has also sung at the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg and Utah Opera for his first performances of the Duca di Mantua in Rigoletto. He joined joined Teatro Real for Constantino in Carnicer's Elena e Constantino (recorded on the Dynamic label), Cleveland Opera for Nadir in Les pêcheurs de perles, Opera San Jose for Tom Rakewell in The Rake's Progress and Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, Caramoor Festival for Ralph Rackstraw in H.M.S. Pinafore, Spoleto Festival U.S.A. for Hob in the ballad opera, Flora, Los Angeles Opera for Mayor Upfold in Albert Herring, and Gotham Chamber Opera for Scipione in Il sogno di Scipione. He has also joined the Metropolitan Opera roster for its production of Wozzeck. In the realm of contemporary opera, he has sung Eric in Alwa Henderson’s Nosferatu with Opera Idaho and Rimrock Opera (Albany records release).

Also an avid baseball fan, he has sung the National Anthem for his hometown team, the Seattle Mariners, on numerous occasions.

Vincent Ranallo brings vocal passion and precision to a vast repertoire ranging from German Lieder (Schubert, Mahler, Webern…) to the modern avant-garde (Xenakis, Tremblay, Sciarrino…).
Lauded by critics for his vocal intelligence and onstage presence, Mr. Ranallo performs more and more with various ensembles such as the McGill Chamber Orchestra, I Musici, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal, the SMCQ, KORÈ ensemble, Chants Libres and Les Voix Humaines. He takes part in festivals such as Athelas New Music Festival (Copenhagen), New music concerts (Toronto), Orford Arts Center, Codes d’Accès, Métropolis bleu, Musimars and Montréal Baroque.On the occasion of the North American première of Don Quichotte chez la duchesse by Boismortier, Mr. Ranallo played Sancho Panca with La Nouvèle Sinfonie under the direction of Hervé Niquet. This production was awarded an OPUS prize by the Conseil québécois de la musique.
Numerous Québec and European composers have been inspired by his voice, his creative personality and his evolving musicianship. He has participated in numerous Montréal opera and chamber music creations and premieres.His interpretation of Tremblay’s À quelle heure commence le temps in a recent Canadian and European tour with the Aventa ensemble has won him public and critical acclaim.
A graduate from the Conservatoire de musique du Québec, where he studied with Marie Daveluy and Gilles Tremblay, this baritone was awarded a Ph.D in voice performance from the Université de Montréal, having studied under the supervision of Rosemarie Landry and Mark Pedrotti. Mr. Ranallo’s thesis focused on aural creativity in the works of composer Gilles Tremblay. He wrote articles on the subject published in CIRCUIT and the Cahiers de la SQRM.
