My humble attempt at remixing the great Howard Jones! This song felt kind of dark to me, and I'm not an electronic DJ/Remixer/Producer type of guy, so I decided to take it in a different direction and go for a heavy rock, almost metal, type of mix, but still having fun with synths and effects at the same time.  Kind of James Bond-ish movie theme.

From Jill:  "I began this song in January 2016 after hearing of David Bowie's death, and then following the News of Prince, it seemed as if our whole world was changing and that the music that I was so influenced by, it's authors were too quickly leaving us.  I kept thinking of how I might write this song to memorialize the musical losses of my generation, but it wasn't until the devastating Fall of 2017 that brought us one tragedy after another, followed by loosing the one musician who had influenced my life and who had provided the soundtrack for all of us, Tom Petty.  And in my sadness, came this song to it's completion."

Currently residing in Seattle, Ryan is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a refreshingly unique style encompassing a diverse array of genres and attitudes. His passion for acoustic music and love of jazz, blues and R&B contribute to a sound that can be identified as purely soulful. Having first jumped into songwriting at 13 years old with the gift of his first guitar (kudos to mom), his journey has taken him through a wide array of musical experiences. Growing up singing in choirs and then jumping into the world of Musical Theatre, he draws his inspiration from the blessings and lessons life has given him along the way. He can be found playing local venues around Seattle and is currently working on his debut album which he hopes to have released by Spring of 2019. Peace By Parisalexa (each play raises money to help youth homelessness)

Seattle youth are experiencing homelessness at staggering rates. Sadly, their voices often go unheard.

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is the largest provider of housing for young adults experiencing homelessness in King County, providing 280 young people with a safe place to sleep on any given night. With your help, we can amplify their stories and band together to end youth and young adult homelessness.

Over the coming weeks, the Y will introduce different artists to tell the stories of youth experiencing homelessness in their words put to music. Listen and share their stories to bring awareness and an end to youth homelessness.

Ellen sat down with singer-songwriter LeRoy Bell. LeRoy played in Special Blend, and then went on to form duo Bell and James, also composing songs that were hits for other artists most notably two charting hit singles for  Elton John. Later Bell became a member of the trio Only Friends. In 2011, Bell applied for the American version of The X Factor  and was chosen for the Final 16.

Leroy Bell Ready To Come Home (Each play raises money for youth homelessness)

Did you know that the YMCA of Greater Seattle is the largest provider of housing for homeless young adults in King County? We are doing great work but there are still young people who need our services - which is why we launched the Unheard campaign.

UNHEARD pairs up local musicians with YMCA housing participants, with the goal of creating unique songs and videos that help humanize and break down misconceptions about homeless youth and young adults. 

This song was written by Scarlet Parke and tells a story about Philip's journey and how he has triumphed over adversity. 

Scarlet Parke is a dark and seductive vocal powerhouse that blends the world of blues and pop together seamlessly. Parke has been performing around Seattle since 2013 and has since been featured as an Artist to Watch on Revolt TV, played top festivals such as Summer Meltdown and Folklife and been getting praise from critics around the nation. Her upcoming album "Flight Risk" was produced and engineered by the dream team Tyler Dopps (Macklemore) and Jake Crocker (Ryan Caraveo) and is set to release in March 2019.

Scarlet says the inspiration behind her song is personal. Scarlet said, “We have both dealt with depression and bi-polar disorder, so I felt a special connection to his story. He mentioned feeling like a 'monster' when he was younger but has obviously come a long way and seems much happier now. The line 'I've got a roster of monsters living in my head' was not to pay homage to his pain but to acknowledge that despite the hardships he has faced he rose above them and learned how to turn his monsters into friends.”
