Feels incredible to be releasing my Debut Album, it's been such a long process and such a long challenge it kind of felt like this day would never come, but it did.

Conceptually the album is about romanticizing a naive world view. That naiveness and ignorance is something to be cherished. There's something really beautiful about the perfect worldview you have as a kid, that the world is harmless, beautiful and good. The more you learn and experience though the more you realise everything isn't perfect. So the less you know the more beautiful it is, it's the things we haven't done, the places we don't know, that have this unquestionable beauty to it. it's this world i'm trying to mirror with my album, the one that stays in your imagination.

Musically i knew i wanted to do a sonic representation of the concept, blending worldly sounds with small bedroom type samples and soundscapes. I really loved the idea of those two polarizing things being the two main factors that would lay the ground for the album.

The music to the video game 'Composition J' (www.compositionj.com), developed by Michael Silverman of Silverware Games. The video game also includes sound design by Jordan Fehr (jordanfehr.com) of 'Super Meat Boy' and 'Hotline Miami' fame. The music here is an edited version of the music as experienced in the game. The music changes dynamically in the game, with layers being added as players reach higher combo levels, and effects added to the music when players rotate the game world.

About Composition J:

Draw walls, build combos, and clear 3D boxes in this minimalist puzzler based on the works of Piet Mondrian and Jezzball/Qix. Keep a box on screen when another one clears to combo up. Balls only break through walls that are still growing so time your new walls carefully.

The musical direction for 'Composition J' was inspired by my upcoming debut EP 'Acronyms Save Ink' (http://snd.sc/15FNJEr), out now on all digital platforms courtesy of Seamless Recordings.

As a film composer, my recent credits include the music to the video game 'Don't Shoot Yourself!', out now on iOS devices courtesy of Ayopa Games, as well as an orchestrator on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, at one point the highest-selling video game of all time. Stephen also wrote the music to the short films 'Quiet' and 'Machinehead' that, together, won awards at three film festivals and were screened at a combined total of over 25 film festivals worldwide, including the New York International Film Festival and the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival. My score for the web-series 'Wallflowers' garnered me two nominations for 'Best Music' from the San Francisco Web Festival and the Snobby Robot 2014 Awards.
