The song describes a world characterized by hectic pace, pressure to innovate, and intense competition ("The world's a blur, a speedin' train," "Competition's breathin' down our necks"). This fast pace leads to the loss of human values such as respect and empathy ("losin' all respect," "empathy's a memory"), as well as to excessive consumption and waste ("consume and waste").
The chorus poses the central question of whether people are aware of this development ("Are we awake?") or ignoring it ("or just asleep?"). At the same time, it criticizes a system that breaks promises and leaves the weak and vulnerable behind ("The system grinds," "Leaving little broken ones with such a mess").
The lyrics critically question whether this is the desired future ("Is this the future we design?") and hint at the hope for change, redesign, and the reclaiming of humanity ("Can we rewrite, reimagine, reclaim?"). The repeated question "Are we awake?"  in the outro underlines the urgency of this call to wake up and become aware.

"LoNe WolF" (a.k.a. Loud Noize) is a solo alternative rock artist that has been evolving within the music scene of northern Illinois since 2018. He's been involved in many open mic and solo concert performances at multiple venues in the Dekalb, IL area including: "The House Café" (before it closed down), "Ax-In-Hand Guitar Shop," "La Calle Bar & Music Venue"(Nov. 2023), and at the Historic Ellwood House...featuring in "Hypnotizame: Beatles Night" at the end of October (2019)...with the latter two events being hosted by "Wooden Box Theater."


His major influences include: Green Day, Nirvana, The Ramones, Social Distortion, Alice in Chains, Bush, Stone Temple Pilots, Staind, and Silverchair.

Steve explores musical diversity in a new way: His compositions are entirely generated by artificial intelligence (AI). This allows him to effortlessly switch between styles and create unique, AI-driven music.
