Born in Greece and now based in London, artist Steve Mill has been building momentum and turning heads with a consistent stream of quality releases on top imprints such as Madhouse, UrbanTorque and Muak. Although he certainly is influenced by the history of Deep House and Garage, there is a modern toughness and grit to Steve's work that sets him apart from his peers in the emergent UK scene. His tracks also possess a hefty dash of soul, which is why he is a perfect fit for the current Large Music ethos and a complimentary member of our growing team.

The title track gets this collection started, with lots of shuffle and a dynamic vocal hook that gets deep into your subconscious after only a few plays. It strikes the perfect blend between catchy bounce and Nu Garage swagger. The remaining two selections highlight the darker and slightly edgier side of Steve's work with Games We Play being a particular stand out.

We originally started this label back in 2014, and shaped it around raw underground talent. We took a short break away from the scene to re-evaluate our sound, and figure out what exactly we wanted for our label.The underground music scene has rapidly changed since we started the label and we've decided to change with it. Here at substate we are heavily influenced by the 90's & uk rave scene, We are seeking dj's and producers with a raw underground sound whether it be speed garage/ukg/house/techno/bass we welcome all raw styles both new skool and oldskool so hit us up! As a fervent music aficionado, record collector, DJ, and producer, Steve Mill has honed a distinctive sound that resonates across dance floors. Born in Greece and dividing his time between Berlin, London, and Thessaloniki, Mill weaves his rich cultural heritage into evocative melodies and infectious rhythms that pay tribute to legends like Armand van Helden and Daft Punk while fearlessly venturing into the future.

With an illustrious career spanning over fifteen years, Mill has left his mark on esteemed labels such as Large Music, Dirt Crew, and True Romance. A true stalwart of the underground scene, he has held the position of label manager at Kerri Chandler's Madhouse Records—where he showcased his unique sound—and has been closely associated with the iconic artist himself.

An unmistakable talent, Mill's sound was once aptly characterized by RA as "fusing elements of House, Techno, and Progressive, tied together with a hint of Balearic essence." This description also rings true for his immersive DJ sets, informed by a vast music collection and countless performances, which consistently captivate dance floors. These musical journeys have taken Steve to high-profile events and music conferences worldwide.

Mill's upcoming releases are set to grace labels like Dirt Crew and True Romance, adding to his already impressive discography. With past achievements like Boiler Room appearances and a compelling full-length album, Mill's music continues to resonate with both audiences and fellow artists. Esteemed DJs such as Tensnake, Purple Disco Machine, and HoneyLuv have reached for his tracks, reinforcing his global demand.

Recently, Steve has transitioned into a new role as an Artist Services Manager at Beatport. In this capacity, he helps artists promote their work on the platform, leveraging his wealth of experience and passion for music. Steve's dedication to the craft and support for fellow artists ensure that his influence will continue to reverberate throughout the global dance music scene.

David McNeary aka the Hueman behind “The Hueman Projekt” crafts sound and  style with a unique selection that has led him across the US from Boston to Montreal, NY, and across the Southwest of the US. Now in LA, David has launched The Hueman Project to bring Acid, Chug, Chunk, Funk, melody and driving techno to light up the darkness. The Hueman groove is a unique curation of these sounds that have been a source of unyielding love and celebration of life.  David has played with the likes of Tiesto, Danny Howells, Chus & Ceballos, Gabriel & Dresden, while collaborating with two mentors in Steve Porter and Ali Ajami, and best of friends @MikeSwells.  

Though David has been a DJ for 25 years, The Hueman Projekt is a new beginning. It begins with you. It begins with him, and it begins now. Expect the projekt to evolve and change. As a bit of fun, David has been known take requests for mixes, thus you must ask David for the change you want to hear in selection or style. "I do love a challenge", David replied when I asked about his fans and how he is reconnecting after a number of spine surgeries sidelined him for a decade. "I can dance, I can walk, and on great days, I can run. No matter what, there is an everyday focus on expansion and mind elasticity within music that motivates and drives me to be better, do better, and to remember that we are all Hueman.
