Always coming at music with a sense of sincerity that carries over into her infectious sounds, she has released on the likes of Uzuri, Meakusma, and Queen Mum's Mail. Always uplifting and filled with life-affirming melodies, her take on house is all about feeling good and sharing love.

On this week's podcast, Whodat's smooth mixing style allows the glory of her selections to shine though. Despite dealing with difficult personal circumstances of her own, on top of the pandemic we've all endured, her music never fails to bring joy. There is warm and diffusive soul from start to finish, with scuffed up beatdown, off-grid Detroit grooves and seductive deep house all adding up to the sort of heartfelt and authentic grooves that the MidWest, and Whodat herself, are so well loved for.

The Edinburgh-based artist has been releasing some of the underground's finest house cuts since emerging on the scene in 2014. His very first outings, a self-released trilogy of EPs stamped his mark loud and clear - quickly garnering him fans amongst music-lovers and DJs alike.Telfort also runs his own parties in his home town of Edinburgh, hosting the likes of Aziesch, Damiano von Erckert, and Cinthie. We love his work here at BB HQ, he does an excellent job at creating true house music which stands the test of time. Catch us in 15 years time...still listening to his tunes on repeat, feeling increasingly refreshed with each subsequent listen. A lot has changed for Jack Hamill aka Space Dimension Controller since he last graced the wheels of steel at (the first ever) AVA Festival, breaking the internet with his unforgettable Boiler Room debut. In the years since, Hamill has been on a journey just as much as we have. After over a decade in the game he’s quit alcohol, launched a new record label, Tiraquon and streamlined his entire production process. 

Lock in for an hour of out of this world house and techno from the back of the cosmos. It's a blend of intergalactic bleeps and bloops that contrasts the personalities of Space Dimension Controller and the new-age of Tiraquon.

AVA MIX 004 - Space Dimension Controller

As a DJ and ‘musicologist’, there are few more serious than @antalrushhour. Trying to sum up the musical world of the Rush Hour founder with a few loose signifiers like house or techno would be futile.

Sure, everyone in the industry claims to have been music obsessives since youth, but few have taken it as far as this Dutchman. As a DJ who prefers proper tools like E&S or Rane rotary mixers and Dope Real isolators, since 1996 he has played all across Europe, Australia, Asia and both North and South America. Unlike many, though, he has a wealth and depth of music to call on that is so vast you never quite know what you are going to get: he is as comfortable spinning Chicago and Detroit influenced house as he is rare Afro funk, forgotten disco and everything in between.

Antal on the mix: 
"Just back from the Selectors Festival and Maiden Voyage festival in London, I finally had the chance again to DJ for an actual real audience. It was so much fun I am still feeling it. This was something I was really missing the last months.

So still in the mood, I was just spinning some tunes in the music room at a midtempo and at the same time I was thinking about the headphone experience and what would be nice to hear, so I went for the more clean and clear productions - but like always, eventually I am turning it around (this time to Brazilian music) for a few bits, only to get out of it again with some other sounds... anyways: all from the heart."
