The story of a chance meeting in 2008 between Andrew Weatherall, the world-renowned DJ, producer and remixer, and Gerard Sheehy, a Co. Cork fisherman. How this meeting inspired Weatherall to use the phrase “Fail We May, Sail We Must” as a personal mantra and how the phrase, in turn, has become an inspiration for thousands of others. It details how in 2021, on the first anniversary of Weatherall’s death, Sheehy was identified as the source of the phrase and tells how the two disparate worlds of the music and fishing industries collided.

Some of the ad-libing,background noise,etc is hilarious...and of course Mick 'remembering' all the words..love it!

For anyone who never attended a Don for Chickens gig, they were excellent and very funny.He was a very witty sham!(When he wasn't telling ya to 'FUCK OFF' :) )
Bradleys was a great venue and also Charlies as the crowds always paid him the respect he deserved.

Don is a card game played predominantly in Cork,especially the Northside.While sitting in a pub,Mick overheard a female patron ask "what time are the band on at?".The bemused barman asked "What band?" and the patron replied "Don for Chickens?",not realising that there was a card game called Don and the prizes for the winners were chickens!!!
And Don for Chickens was born.At Christmas when playing gigs,Mick changed the name to Don for Turkeys,which I'm sure the pub did too!!

On the 6th April 1994 Kurt Cobain committed suicide. He was 27 years old, a media frenzy ensued...... less than 6 weeks earlier, at 11.20pm on 26th February, Bill Hicks died of pancreatic cancer with his parents by his bedside. The laminated memorial card Mrs Hicks handed out to his friends said he was 32 years 2 months and ten days old - his death went largely unreported.

This is a classic tribute show to two kings of their respective scenes.....maybe an intro for some folks that haven't come across Bill before, check out his live sets, there's plenty floating around in the www.  This show has some of his very best moments, they'll have you acheing at the sides with laughter as well as still being very much of the moment in terms of the politics, even ten years on!
