Markus Suckut has established himself as one of techno’s greatest storytellers through his near 20-year career, known for sets that take listeners on a wide-ranging journey whilst straddling the line between dub techno and the genre in its purest form.

In 2017, through his work with Johannes Heil on the pair’s discerning Exile imprint, as well as a schedule that sees him spin across Europe, he shows no signs of slowing down either.

He lands on Andre Kronert’s ODD/EVEN imprint next month with his ‘Your Body’ EP, four tracks made up of the lights out techno that has become his trademark, ranging from minimalistic to acid.

For his DJ Mag podcast, Suckut has delivered an hour-long masterclass that shifts from a dreamy melancholy before working through to a measured industrial clatter - the perfect day-to-night set.

Ah, 2019. What a year it's been. I don't know about y'all but mine has been quite insane... especially this summer.

One of my highlights was playing a small festival out in the middle of the woods / on a lake front for one of my best friend's birthday parties. He threw a little festival for himself and asked me to close the whole night out. 3am to 6am. woof. Not to mention the fact that it was the day after I landed in Seattle from Germany. double Woof. I was so delirious, tired, all the feels you'd expect.

I played a mix of downtempo, with a dash of hip hop throwbacks and instrumentals I had, because most of the crowd was dying out so I wanted to experiment. A select group of friends stayed up the entire time, and when I finally gave the decks a rest, one friend told me "dude, that was the most gangster set I've ever heard....it was tribal, it was earthy and spiritual, but it had like, a thuggish attitude about it..."

I smiled and laughed, but it stuck with me for the rest of summer and into fall. Jungle spiritual beats with a thug attitude about it... interesting... Thus...this mix, was born!

I've been working on this mix for a few months, so apologies for the tardiness. I wanted to really nail the story, the setting. I envisioned a concrete jungle perhaps... a throwback gangster jungle ride... hehe. There hasn't been a LOST mix out in a while. I went through so many takes, so many mistakes, bad mixes, but this one was a journey. I honestly could have recorded another hour or so, I have so many sick edits I wanted to include but I figured it's already waaaay too long haha!

Hope you enjoy, I truly love every track I picked in this, hope you take the time to listen to it all! See y'all in 2020, lot's of Samaha music coming atcha! You know how we dooo it.

The past decade has seen Öona Dahl solidify her status as one of underground dance music's most refreshing artists. As a producer, she has steadily built her repertoire, with a penchant for experimentation that's guided by an innate understanding of what makes a great song. The more we live in the new realities, the harder it becomes to imagine what life would be like if the virus thing had not happened at all. It’s only a matter of time when we’ll run out of days we had planned before the pandemic, which became invisible pages in some unwritten book. We’ll then come to terms with the new days, realizing that we are going to divide life before the isolation and after it, stuck amid some incomprehensible present, a what-we-could-have-done past and the what-comes-ahead future. No matter how fast we come to terms with the fact that we need to redefine and re-plan everything, and no matter how soon we decide to abstain from planning anything at all, we are nonetheless going to have a small and insignificant feeling of regret for the days we thought were important and were going to change the way we felt and the way saw things. And those “unfulfilled days” will remain the only link between the former and future realities.
@vikenarman and @acidpauli’s six-hour set they played at @Rambalkoshe marked, in some sense, the beginning of their joint performances. They were supposed to play b2b all night long at Berlin’s Watergate club today to officially kick start the new chapter both of them were so passionate about. To celebrate such a milestone, we are publishing an excerpt from the set this unbelievable symbiosis played at Rambalkoshe a year ago and took around hundred people to a different dimension, filled with nothing but incredible and infinite energy.
