Continuing the Jazz injected pop-rock theme of Collect the Moment and Better do SOME GOOD this one references AJA though it could easily be ASIA. My time spent in AJA (Steely Dan) was about the same time we were dissecting preserved bodies in Otago Medical School. Playing live then I was channeling more of a Neil Young, Bob Dylan and THE BAND pre Americana country rock thing. But jump ahead 40 years and here we were just this last Saturday night churning out JOSIE from AJA in a set of originals and covers full of Jazz Chords and RnB beats. So this new song absorbs a lot of that stuff.

Some information about this track’s processing: it was processed with “ The Pulsar Echorec” VST, so it should sound more analog. the Echorec disk involving magnetic saturation and hysteresis…I wanted a warped warm sound so there will be areas on the track where there are dropouts coloring and artifacts. I love the way it adds grit musically. It’s basically an old fashion tape machine. In other word, it dirties up the track, and adds character…I love it!

I was lucky enough to visit California late December/early January and part of trip included a visit to Alcatraz Island. After visiting have had the heebie-jeebies ever since (this track will not help that ha!). I wanted to create a track that reflected what it is like for a person being trapped inside prison slowly losing their mind. This track is created predominantly from sound effects which is a first for me as is the style of music as my music generally seems to normally be more calm in nature! Hope you enjoy my short track experiment,  the full Alcatraz experience!

July 2018 DON'T YOU TURN AWAY selected by NY agent to promote to a London soul singer. August 2018 LOVE MY LIFE assigned to BuyNZ audiovisual advertising. December 2018 WHERE CIGARETTES FALL forwarded by Taxi.com to US TV music director. Latest 3 albums seek to marry singer songwriter Imagery with multi-harmony musical movement. 2024 FLOATING INTO WONDER and ECCENTRICITY SO BEAUTIFUL got airplay on a New Foundland radio station. Dec 24 FAKING IRONY and CAUGHT UP IN A WAR have have gotten a foothold in Spotify.
