Steven Gutheinz

Inspired by my Pleyel (the piano of Chopin), C minor and nature, I made this quiet Nocturne. I experimented with the felted sound by using different materials including interfacing and felt.  The chord progression is from a previous violin, piano, and cello work I did called Jing Ye Si (https://sharonchen.bandcamp.com/track/thoughts-on-a-still-night).

A slow, sorrowful piano piece with a gentle pace - like the quiet fading of a memory or the end of
something dear.

I wrote "The Butterfly" inspired by the flight of a butterfly in summer, specifically the flapping of its wings.

For me, this song is an invitation to live life intensely, to the fullest, without repressing yourself and finding the courage to surrender to your emotions.

"Rebirth," included on my new album Intimacy Vol. 2, talks about an inner rebirth. For me, personally, it coincides with the year of the pandemic, when I decided to embark on my musical journey by starting to release my music. I felt something shift inside me, as if an old "me" was giving way to a new version, ready to emerge. That was the moment of my personal and artistic rebirth.
