On February 24th 2022, I woke up at 5am from the sound of explosions and I saw a glow through the window. Russia had attacked Ukraine. My hometown of Kharkiv and many other Ukrainian cities have been destroyed by Putin’s troops. Rockets and bombs are being used to attack residential and civilian buildings, maternity homes, schools, infrastructure, cultural objects and to kill civilians and children. Their goal is to erase the Ukrainian nation and their method is terror. Look at what they have done to Mariupol, Bucha, irpin', Hostomel', Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Volnovakha, Izyum and many other Ukrainian cities. This is a crime against humanity. This is fascism.

Basilisk is a veteran multi-genre DJ, co-founder of the psychedelic techno label @Techgnosis-Records alongside @benramamusic, founder of the iconic @Ektoplazm free music portal and label group (including Ektoplazm, Drumlore, and Omnitropic), lossless audio enthusiast, and dedicated archivist and electronic music curator. Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, he is now based in Taipei, Taiwan.

Psytrance, techno, electro, house, trance, acid, breaks, bass, IDM, ambient—you name it, I probably spin it. My mixes fluidly combine different genres into harmonic journeys that defy convention. From the raw chaos of The Tunnel and Limelight to the transcendent nights at Twilo between 1998 and 2001, those iconic dance floors shaped him into the artist he is today.

With tribal rhythms in his blood and a B-boy spirit from the streets of New York, Anthony Velarde developed a style uniquely his own—rhythmic, soulful, and unmistakably underground. Over the years, he’s earned the respect of the scene and built a loyal following through his deep, thoughtfully crafted mixes and original productions.

Though retired from playing out live, Anthony continues to share his passion through mixes and releases—his purest way of staying connected to the culture and community that built him.
