Submissions — Week 1 (Theme: Resolutions)

This collection demonstrates my ability to record guitar, bass, piano, and vocals and is 100% my own work. 

I currently own a drum kit but unfortunately I still need to purchase some drum mics. I can send a pop track with some drums that I performed and recorded for a group called 'The Lovettes' (see CV) if requested, but don't currently have the track with me as it was recorded at someone else's studio. 

The Willie Nelson track was recorded for a vocal student at the music academy I used to work at as they couldn't sing it in the original key. The rest are my own personal recordings. I stayed faithful to the original on Just Breathe, the rest of the tracks contain some of my own ideas. I've also included a few sample tracks that aren't quite finished but relevant all the same.

Week number ONE of the reddit song a week challenge! Somewhat excited but also daunted by the thought of keeping this up for a whole year, I'm gonna try my best tho. 

This weeks theme is resolutions. I had no intention of writing a jazz song to begin with and I've never tried to write a jazz song before. Somehow thinking about chord resolutions got me playing around with some jazzy harmonies and this is the result. I hope you like it!

Got a some new percussion instruments this week, so this track came about from playing around with my new cajon and a seed pod shaker, plus finally got round to doubling my mic collection with the addition of an sm57 :D

The sound owes a lot to the mellower kyuss/desert/stoner tunes I grew up listening to, really nice to get back to it. 

I didn't plan on doing vocals but with the theme being fear, I happened to stumble across a poem called fear in a book I've been reading, which gave me the inspiration for the lyric. Still struggling with hoarseness but thankfully got an appointment with an ENT doctor.
